Over the past week I watched the entire Rocky saga for the first time. What do you think of the series as a whole and which Rocky picutre is your favorite?

Here is my quick thought on each:

Rocky (1976)- Brilliant film with great writing directing and acting. A story that anyone could get behind and an excellent bout at the end. Took home Best Picture is 76 though I'm not sure it is quite as good as Taxi Driver. My favorite Rocky.

Rocky II (1979)- Stallone's first attempt at directing a Rocky is not bad but falls flat compared to the first. Basically it is redundant almost exactly like the first one with slightly altered situations.

Rocky III (1982)- I really like this one. Not the best film but fun to watch. Hulk Hogan and Mr. T are good and features the most fights in the series. Eye of the Tiger is always great.

Rocky IV (1985)- Very stupid film. Nothing makes sense. Apollo Creed dies in the ring against Drago but Rocky becomes superhuman and survives 15 rounds. Why would the russians just start rooting for Rocky? Other than the training sequence this film is otherly souless.

Rocky V (1990)- Barely qualifies as a film. Terrible almost in every way. I like the idea of Rocky becoming a trainer and streetfighting at the end though. Stallone himself said he gives this movie a 0 out of 10.

Rocky Balboa (2006)- Surpisingly good and number 2 in my heart.

I enjoyed them overall but am scared to death about the prospect of another one (Stallone is contemplating it).

I like the one where Rocky beat up that guy who old people find scary!

Rocky IV is my fav. Its got 3 amazing fights in one movie.

Fight 1 Drago kills Creed, Fight 2 Drago owns Rocky, then Fight 3 Rocky gets some revenge.


I'd say Rocky III is 2nd best and Rocky I is 3rd best. Rocky II, V and Balboa suck ass.

Even though V is the last one on the list I still like it. Rocky is one of my favorite franchises.

Rocky 1 is the best in quality, Rocky 4 is the best in entertainment. Rocky 5 is the worst.

The first one is easily the best, but IV has the best soundtrack!

Rocky IV. 3 montages = Triple WIN.

Rocky I is the best by far. Rocky II is ok. Rocky III is average. Rocky IV and V are terrible. Rocky Balboa is the second best, it was a good surprise to me , i was expecting another Rocky V.

Man, I loved Rocky 4, my favorite! Rocky 3 was great too. Clubber Lang, CLUBBER LANG!

Rocky 5 was bad until the street fight at the end, and I haven't seen Balboa (haven't heard good things). Rocky 1 and 2 seemed interchangable to me, but 2 actually had a better conclusion. However, 1 was better in terms of getting to know Rocky (obviously).

I loved the training in the most of them, truly legendary films
