Forums - Sony Discussion - Possible PS3 price cut?

I doubt it.

Wont get a price cut till they start to bundle with Move

-$50 without move
Same price with.

Something like that

I'm thinking this too.

On average PS3 drops in price about $70 per year, but mostly every year they've done this it's because they've removed stuff to help do it. If they made a $50 cut this year without removing anything that would be a bit of a first. But if this 200g reduction thing is happening this year then that's kinda consistent.

And I believe Sony is probably breaking even in the US now (I believe they have been profitable in Others/JPN prior to now due to exchange rates).  The reduction in weight (maybe reason for shortage in US?) could bring it close enough to pull it off.

Amazon for the Dualshock.

They have until Move comes out to do this (they have probably reached profitability by now, and I believe the only place they were losing money lately was in America).  Odd that America is the only real region with supply constraint isnt it?

I think it is all moving to the point of the newer model that is upcomming.  It will be profitable (Id assume) at the -$50 (if they keep the harddrive size the same) by Move Launch.  All we know of Move is: camera + Move + Game less than 100.

I can see them sell a console with 1 dual shock, 120g PS3 (newer SKU), 1 Camera, 1 Move = $299 at the moves Launch.

The value of the US Dollar has been trending upwards lately. Maybe they are waiting for that??

Next PS3 price cut will likely come for Holiday 2011 season.

Its probably a bit too early for another price-cut. I think it'll happen next year more likely.

I think the PS3 will get another price cut around E3 and summer, close to around PS move launch. PS3 is now profitable since the revision, also Sony will be releasing the PSN cost, for Cross game chat, and 3 year warrenty , and many other features, gaming will stay free, along with all features free now, they will just be adding many more features they will be charging for, Along with this and all the Software Sony is saling , They will be OK for another price drop. We are only around year 3 -4 on PS3 , Sony will Support for 10 years plus, there will be plenty of years there to really bank some profit. Sony is in a very nice Place, Sales are looking great, many more Exclusives comming , PS move comming, its a great time to have a PS3.

I doubt it. SONY is finally about to break even and is finally making profits i doubt they will throw it all away just to "compete" with M$.

You people see to forget that the real "competition" for these companies is to see which company can make the most money... not necessarily move the most consoles.

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

well the amount of money you make depends on the amount of consoles you move

Sony just needs to make ENOUGH consoles before they worry about pricing on their consoles. Baby steps, people.
