I think no, but what does BHR-3 say? I usually just blindly agree with him.

ermm he said it will get one, so you make a thread saying you predict it will get one!!

{hopes commonman is gullible enough to fall for the trick}

I picture a $249 basic model to counter Natal at November or so.

I would love to see a $50 price cut in time for Move.

$250- 120GB base console
$300- console with move and maybe a game
$350- 250GB console

We know MS will drop the price (they have to), we also know Natal will be bigger than Move (look at the media reaction). Sony has one more big title coming, Gran Turismo, I don't think that will be enough. It will likely lock up Europe, but that's it.

2011 Predictions

Wii: 17m (100 million total)

360: 13m (63 million total)

PS3: 15m (61 million total)

I think most believe MS will drop the price around the launch of Natal. At most, I believe it will be a $50 cut to the Elite (Arcade will most likely stay the same). Sony will probably only have to drop the PS3 by ~ $25 to combat this. By that time, Sony will probably be able to still break even with a drop. But right now, since Sony is beating MS on a weekly level, they only have to react to what MS does. So, at least in terms of pricing, they are sitting and waiting.

@ Knoxcore

Media reaction really means nothing. Especially when its happens over a yr before your product launches. Which is where MS screwed themselves. They will never be able to build up as much hype as what followed E3 last year. Plus, add in the fact that around that time, Natal still had the micro-processor in it and even back then there was lag and problems tracking. Since the deletion of the micro-processor, we have yet to see a vid or demo of it running. So this time, ads won't save MS, only the fact of whether they can deliver a functioning product or not. And if this qoute reported by IGN, from a dev working on both techs is true I have little fatih.

"Natal, though -- the motion offering from Microsoft -- not so much. The same studio rep calls Natal a big, buggy mess. "It's sh*t," he adds, saying that it just doesn't work as promised. That it's slow and that the camera is imprecise, which he notes, is causing some major development woes." http://wii.ign.com/articles/107/1076978p1.html

There's also the fact that Move is launching a month in advance of Natal, so that might steal some of its steam.

All current indications still point to a small loss in America on each PS3 sold. This will be echoed in Europe.

Given the economic climate I feel they may now be breaking even in the home territories.

I doubt that SONY would want to risk all now that they are in a more fiscally comfortable position.

A price cut will almost certainly be held back until the holiday season.

Of course this all depends on the competition. One way to hand the advantage back to Microsoft would be to allow them to sell more 360's on the run up to NATAL.

Nintendo dont seem overly fussed. They really do seem to have judged everything right this gen. Power, Control and Pricepoint.

Well lets think about this. Sony probably knows Microsoft is going to cut the price on the xbox this holiday season or even after E3. Right now the PS3 is either breaking even or giving Sony a little profit. Sony knows they have to cut the price to compete with Microsoft. If they cut the price later this year than once again they will either be losing money or barely breaking even. Why do you guys think games like final fantasy 13, heavy rain, god of war 3, etc are releasing early this year? They want to sell as much consoles as they can and make a profit before they need to cut the price.

You know another thing to consider with these motion controllers is, who are the ones who are going to buy these things? For the most part, I think its going to be those who already own the console.

For Move, I could maybe see it bringing some over from the Wii, at least a the few who like the control setup and want a little more power running under the hood. And I can see it maybe bringing a few who are on the fence still about getting a game system and maybe were thinking of the Wii or an HD system. Of course, I don't think it will be that many. But, with it already being proven that it can have a hardcore game made using it, I see quite a few current owners picking it up and those who would have bought the PS3, anyway.

Now for Natal, what is the number 1 genre on 360? Shooters. Now, that's not a jab at the 360, just a well known fact that the majority of people who own it love their shooters. Are these owners really going to buy Natal, just so they can play some casual games, as hardcore games are going to be close to impossible with Natal (even Halo Reach was supposed to use it, but it never panned out)? I don't think so. And where I can see a few (read not very many) people getting the PS3 and Move for its familiarity with the Wii + more power, I really don't see many ditching the Wii just to pick up Natal to only be able to play even more simple casual games (without the good exclusives Nintendo has).

that is a very good point. However we all know how Microsoft is with Marketing. They even said they will have celebrities be in their advertisements. It might be something that sells really well but in the end it might be something that is collecting dust (like my wii).
