But I have no idea how the AMD processors stack up against intels core i7. I've been trying to find a benchmark that might tell me how well they perform compaired to eachother but i've been unable to find one.

Since the pc has upgrade possibilities I just need to know about the power of the processor as I already read that the graphics card is pretty damn good. (correct me if im wrong)

I've been out of the upgrading/buying pc market for a good 2-3 years so I have a few problems with all the things that are important these days compaired to when I used to buy pcs .. not to mention what is more powerful.

I've usually built my pcs from scratch but this time around I don't think I can be arsed. Getting a great preconfiguration that just works would be nice. Can always upgrade later.

Does this help Mr Staudeman sir?

Its a pretty fast processor and its generally somewhere between Core 2/i7 depending on the application.

Tease.

Not sure if this benchmark actually means anything, I'm not really a PC guy, but I came across it the other day when looking up processors.

Constructing a PC is like playing with legos. However you get no bonus points for experimenting and fitting pieces where they don't fit. In fact you get major negative points.

A few sites to check out for comparisons.

www.hardocp.com does pretty good, honest, comparisons.
www.tomshardware.com usually has a CPU chart

I give this thread a 9.5.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

yep I'm using the same chart for comparisons.

Good list of all CPUs.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the aid.

INTEL CORE i7 are way better

Icore 7 are better but priced much much higher too. If you have no budget constraints go there.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Core i7s are better, but you're looking at like 150-200$ more, and fewer upgrade options in the future as well, in all likelihood.
