Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft Using PS3 Footage to Promote FF XIII on Xbox

@ BW_JP - this is meant to be an article about microsoft using footage from the PS3 version to advertise the 360 version. So, any comments about how SE betrayed Sony are obviously off topic.

"However, in the UK, the ongoing battle for format supremacy has surely taken Final Fantasy XIII as a casualty." Oh, that's 1

"While the game remains available solely on PlayStation 3 in Japan, the UK release of Final Fantasy XIII has been much more widely publicised for the Xbox 360." - 2

"television adverts and sponsored magazine coverage has often managed to conveniently forget that the game is also available on Sony’s PlayStation 3" - that'd be 3

" the system for which the game had originally been announced as an exclusive title worldwide." - I feel tempted to count this as 4 and 5, because it's twice as whiny as any of the previous comments

"However, it appears that the additional publicity for the Xbox 360’s release of Final Fantasy XIII hasn’t gone without a hitch." Haha, the glee in the authors eyes as he wrote this counts as number 5

"With all this added exposure for the Xbox 360version, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Microsoft’s format would be leading the race. However, this was revealed as not being the case in the first week of retail availability" Again, so much glee. 6

3 paragraphs were talking about how SE betrayed Sony, 1 was about MS using PS3 footage.

I have an idea. Just shut up.

Read the article and don't complain about it. It's not going to help anything.

OT: I don't even see the big deal, they probably had some time retrains.

Haha, Microsoft's been destined to loose the FFXIII battle from the start.  All the advertisement they've paid for is just money down the toilet.  People will buy the game for whichever format they prefer the most.  And it won't sell any systems as it is multiplatform.  Another fail for Microsoft marketing.

I imagine MS looks at having FFXIII as a defense strategy. I doubt they ever figured they would outsell the PS3 version. The strategy is likely that they consider every 360 copy sold as a save against someone jumping platforms.

Yeah, I'd believe that.  I still don't know why they've been marketing it so heavilly though....

The dude abides

Wait, so they're talking about the E3 trailer?

I don't think I've read a dumber article in a while.

The above sums up how I felt after reading that pile of steaming.............

Whats the big deal?

Ive played both versions and noticed no difference. LOL.

It doesnt help that I'll probably take my copy back due to how bad the game is.

LOL You would say that if the xbox version was monochrome LOL !!1

Differences seem most noticeable in the FMV, which is honestly pretty sloppy on SE's part (clearly the port was RUSHED)... unless you're line counting, the resolution difference from 576p to 720p probably won't be that immediately recognizable.

I've played both versions.  On 360 the gameplay looks almost identical.  If you know what to look for (and have seen PS3 version) then you will see that the basic image is just that bit lower in resolution.  However in motion it's not massive and the gameplay experience felt identical to me.

The FMV does show clear differences, which is to be expected.  Anyone saying no difference is just being silly.  It's like looking at a VHS film then a DVD and saying you don't see a difference.  There is a big difference in FMV resolution.  However, the FMV has no impact on gameplay and doesn't look that bad unless you know how nice the PS3 FMV looks.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
