Will this be the X360's Peak Year?

Yes 57 43.85%

No 73 56.15%

Total:130

Um I'll go against the flow and say no. 2008 was X360's best year because of the price cut. but Why not 2010? Cause the other 2 giants are actually gonna throw in what they can too to hold back Natal and the probable slim x360.

So, it'll either be close to the best year, or be a little higher than the current best year.

EDIT: Also, the biggest gaming event(E3) is not here yet, and it's sure to hold lots of surprises.

May switch answers from yes to no, and no to yes.

People look at the numbers for 2010 for the 360 and say well its down on 2009 so it must have peaked....

BUT

It was 2008 that was the 360's best year thus far and yet the 360 is tracking 500k higher than it was at this time in 2008, chuck in Natal, a new halo and a possible Slim and you get a record year imo.

2008 to March 8th 1,281,866
2010 to March 6th 1,745,587

you dont get shiiiit...

Most likely.

Ultimately, I don't think so unless they have a massive price cut to 100$. I just don't see a 50$ price cut having much impact to be honest. The 360 has already reached it's optimal price points. The reason it sold so well in 2008 was entirely due to the price cut / competitions high price.

@Rpruett, its not just the price in the US. Its the fact that the majority, of its particular market segment, have a 360.

I think we are well past the peak year for all consoles (2008).

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

If it does, it wont be by much. In all likelihood it'll be about even with 2009, maybe slightly lower unless Natal does well or there's a significant pricecut

Wow 50/50 so far.

I went with no, but you certainly make some strong points and it could go either way. Basically I'm seeing this year as a strong year for PS3, and I'm thinking that PS3 sells better in 2010 than it did in 2009. I see Wii falling off a tad this year, but still sellling at around the 20 million level. So with those things in mind I just don't think the market is large enough for 360 to have a peak year. It's not that I want 360 to fall short of 2008 it's just that with the positions I see PS3 and Wii I don't think there's the room for it.

The Fates of 360 and PS3 are linked though. So far it's PS3's year to lose and people seem to think momentum hangs on how well the public receives the respective motion controls. I don't see either of them having much effect on console sales over all and it'll come down to whether 360 puts a bit more daylight between it and PS3 on the pricing front. Elite at $250 (slim or otherwise) with PS3 staying at $299 will change the game especially in the Americas.
