Forums - Sales Discussion - PS3 will never catch the the 360 now. Wii won a long time ago.

PS3 has played all their trump cards almost (slim, price reduction) and only have one left - GT5. GOW3 etc will sell 4 million but they will not be system sellers as people who want these generic games already have a PS3, same goes for Halo Reach on the 360....it will selll 10 milllion but won't push systems for more than a week or 2. So basically the gap will not really change and we can see that as it is basically still about 6 million. 360 if they bring out a slim will help sales but the gap will still hover around 5-7 million until both consoles are replaced. The motion devices for both consoles will do little as they were not included from the start and so will have limited support...a few games but most won't buy into it as the hardware did not come originally with the console so developers games will still be aimed at the 30 million+ consoles that don't have motion support.

As for Wii....well we all know it won the generation, well done Nintendo.

it all depends on how popular the motion controls are
until there released this gen could go to MS or sony

End of 2012 prediction:

xbox 360 : 73-75 million  playstation 3 : 72-74 million  wii : 104-105 million

Most hyped for :

Bioshock: infinte, The Last Of Us, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Agent

Generic games?

I stopped reading from there.

Well, that's not the end of the world! As Nintendo lost their 2 previous generations, they are still competing with Sony and producing excellent games (Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros...)

Sony will have the chance to catch up next generation! Video games is a rude and changing market.

The Wii has hands down won this generation. I don't really think there is much debating that. They have a massive lead over both the PS3 and the 360, so unless Wii sales completely tank and the 360 and PS3 both see MASSIVE surges, their lead is safe.

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but the PS3 continues to outsell the 360 in every region except for NA. If that continues we could see the margin drop to a small margin. The 360 definately has benefitted from the lower price point.

Aside from Natal and it possibly being very popular (the same goes for the Move) what trump card for MS have? Both Sony and MS really only have games to put out before they both eventually release new consoles.

Even if Natal or Move becomes widely popular, Wii's lead is way too big for any of the two consoles to catch up before the next generation begins.

Signature goes here!

generic? GT is the reference in race simulation and God of War is... epic. God of War III and GT5 are going to be the big games of 2010 along with Halo Reach, Mass Effect 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda Wii. I don't think they are generic. They are big. Really big.

PS3 is yet to reach the 199$ price tag. GT5 will sell a fair deal of systems..specially in Europe, and GoW III will maintain the 100K+ HW sold in America (which is due to a boost from FF) provided there is no HW shortages...

That said, I believe 360 will be 2nd place by 5-6 million consoles at the end of this gen..

You ruined what could have been a lucid point that may have been taken seriously with "generic games".

Unfortunately, now it just looks like trolling. Try again without the condescension.
