I understand you points of view, but this game is something else, like MGS4 was when it came out, your right do its too early to call it GOTY, if its not I can't wait to play the game that will top it. GT5 will probably not be a GOTY this year, never seen a racing game getting GOTY but GOW3 has some potential if its as good as the second one.
Still need to play GOW3, just finished GOW2 and it was EPIC, awesome game there as well but a little short.

GOTY is a matter of opinion. Reviewers opinion counts as much as the individual gamers who play the games.

According to reviewers Uncharted 2 was the GOTY for 2009. God of War III or Gran turismo 5 or Super Mario Galaxy 2 are the favourites for GOTY for 2010. A previous iteration of these 2010 sequels have won GOTY titles.

FFXIII is definitely out of the race for GOTY mixed reviews and not AAA game. Mass effect 2 released early and will be one of the runner ups for GOTY but a GOTY contender for X360/PC.

FF13 is the only game I've bought this year and I'm really loving it. With the amount of hate it gets though, I realize that it's no candidate for GoTY

Mass Effect 2

GT5 may be an outsider if it ever gets released !

goty usually goes out to the 1 standout title in the year with many publications.

its not biowares best work and its not the most memorable game ive played this year , solid game and it will definitely pick up some awards but for majority of the sites choosing me2 as goty i doubt it

Can someone clarify what makes a game "GOTY"?

I mean, shouldn't there only be 1 game as THE game of the year? There's CoD:MW GOTY, LBP GOTY, Fallout 3 GOTY, and soon to have Batman AA GOTY. Hows that work?

For all i know ME2 can be GOTY, yet there'll be another game thats GOTY in the same year XD
