Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo register "Power Wii"

I don't know if you guys have noticed, maybe it is not even important, but...

The registered name applies to POWER Wii (with caps), like an acronym or something.

This is a strange name to give, on capitals letters. Does that change anything?

It is also the acronym for a IBM processor with RISC (Performance Optimized With Enhanced RISC)

Current chipset is already POWER, is this name registration for a future processor?

only time will tell

in before wii H and nintendo fans change of heart about graphics.

I really like this POWER idea....Reminds me of the advertising campaign for the NES and that can only be a good thing.

And so the Wii jokes return.

Feel the power Wii power!

It's Wii jumping onto the Powerthrist bandwagon.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Possibly HD, but then they would be hypocritical.   Though what company ISNT!?

In what way would that be hypocritical?

"When asked about display technology like HD and 3-D, Fils-Aime downplayed them as a necessity. “When people talk about high definition for the Wii console, our feedback is that that by itself will not create a brand new experience. Therefore, we're not interested. What we have to push for are groundbreaking new experiences. Technology has to enable it, not to be a means all by itself.”"http://www.industrygamers.com/news/nintendo-not-interested-in-wii-hd-says-reggie/

By those words HD is not the next big step for Nintendo despite the fact their next console will be HD, but that won't be the selling point for sure. Not quite a novelty to be considered a "new" thing. Just higher res.

Nintendo is not like Sony, who stated this:

"I think the notion of that controller is a non-trivial point that you’ve brought up, that control and that familiarity is like comfort food - from my perspective, we lead, we don’t follow. And as a brand, Nintendo’s got their thing, and we’re not trying to get the senior citizen group to get into gaming"

", but we’d never consider iterating off of existing competitive technology - because we think that’s a fad and that’s not the way we approach product development. It’s not the way we approach the marketing or the branding of PlayStation."

And then made the almighty Wii inspired PS Move.

@ OP

Power Wii couldn't be related with the new Zelda and that whole Story about it taking advantage of non-seen Wii capabilities?

But of course.

This is because I am a Sony fanboy.
