What are you, 30?

I'd have bought the game .. when you're older you'll find saving 70 bucks will be meaningless.

you didnt have to burst his bubble like that, you know

you still bursted his bubble. He was saving that money ever since Christmas and you just came and said ''your 70 bucks are meaningles'' Not everyone gets paid 2500 dollars a month, you know.

saving money now serves little purpose, when he gets older, saving $70 WILL be meaningless. He's young (obviously) so he should be spending his money on himself and not worrying about saving that money which took him months to save, cos he'll earn that in a day when he gets a job.

Stop blabbing on.

That is the most untrue statement you could tell someone.  The earlier you begin saving money the better.  Compounding interest works to you advantage the longer you have it invested.  Once your in a position you should be investing 15% of your income for future use/retirement.  I'd much rather be 55 and comfortable then 70 and having to work at Mcdonalds because I pissed away my money.

But you're missing out on GOW 3, I'm playing it right now and it is pretty awesome.

Personally I would rather be 55 and skint knowing that I may have never made it to 55 and had a crap life saving it all up for a day I never made it too. But that’s just me.

Rubbish, by all means you should save when you have an actual job, I'm saying (clearly) saving now, 70 bucks means nothing, and will have absoloutely no impact on his life later on, heck even if he save for all his child hood, he'd come out with like 5k MAX. That again ... would be pretty much nothing in the grand scheme of things.

People blowing all money when thy are young tend to do the same when they earn mony. Once they realize with 40ish that they are screwed, they are in fact screwed.

Dont be dumb and start saving as early as possible.

It may serves a little purpose to you, but to him, it obviously serves a little bigger purpose. For all you know, he might gets paid 2 bucks per hour...

having 5k is a lot more important than having nothing. When he moves out rather than racking up CC debt he could pay for his own goods with cash. Or buy a used car + tax + insurance so he can get to his job. By all means you should learn to save as soon as you can count. Then you learn the true value of money rather than blowing it on unneeded luxuries. You don't go from spending every dollar you earn on luxuries to saving enough for retirement without some serious change in lifestyle. Even though I save from childhood I had my stretch of time where I spent every dollar I earned, and I regret it and I was working a "real job" then.

And I'm not saying don't buy a video game, but at least he realized that his money is valuable and he'll get minimal returns from the game. There are a lot cheaper ways to enjoy the game that don't involve spending every $ he earns.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I could learn a lot from you. In all honesty, I don't even want God of War 3 (I wasn't happy with Gow1 and skipped GoW2) but I may end up buying it just to say that I have it. I bet I impulse buy GoW Collection, too. I'm seriously wasteful.

That's not a bad idea, Snake.

I, myself, don't know that I'll be able to: I have four games that I want to buy right now (Pokemon HG/SS, GoW3, and Infinite Space) and have to seriously focus on not buying them right this second, even in the middle of moving house.

I don't need Pokemon, dammit! I don't!

Honestly, in the last years I saved enough that I could live without any worries for at least 2 years without earning any money.

Yes, I sleep very well at night.
