Forums - Gaming Discussion - Some Reasons Why The Playstation Move May Be Able To Beat Natal And The Wii

Neither has a chance to beat the Wii, it's as simple as that. But I agree that Move is a more practical solution for motion controlled gaming than Natal.

I was going to go off on a tangent but i think Mr. stopable sums up what i was going to say with much less profanaty.

sony is gonna need more compelling software at launch than they showed at GDC. most of the games they showed seemed like lame knock offs of popular wii games. in addition to that, alot of the games looked like they werent ready to be played (reading thru IGNs hands on impressions). i think they should have waited till E3 to show more polished versions of these games to make better impressions on the media than they did. overall, the games seemed very forgettable, and will seem more so if MS can pull off a responsive lag-minimal natal w/ interesting games at its unveiling in june.

my only other concern for Move is pricing of the controllers. watching the official trailer, half of the games would require more than just the starter pack to work (requiring 2 MOVE controllers for one person). if sony can get a starter pack to include 2 wands, 1 nunchuk, and the PS camera for under $99, they may have a better chance of increasing adoption rates.

i know this is an opinion piece so there is no point arguing but some of his "facts" are flat out wrong such as this part, "The first being the fact that camera tracking is very much defined by the lighting. No matter how much you’d like it to be, not every gamer out there has the perfect lighting set up and regardless of how much technology they put in there, it will affect the experience."

natal works even in the dark...

anywho, atm moment i'm a bit more excited for psmove i guess just cause i think i prefer to have a controller in my hands and we haven't seen anything for natal yet. could easily change.

Sony aren't going to do it with rehashes of already released Wii concepts. Nintendo has juiced those markets, they aren't going to find much luck selling Move Sports to people who have already played and own Wii Sports. Move is a failure waiting to happen from what we've seen thus far. The market doesn't want rehashed Nintendo experiences. Sony will have to show something much much better before people will pull it out of the hypothetical toilet bowl.

It's all about the software... which the Wii already has, the ps move and natal have to go crazy with their luanch.

Good read :) I am hopeful about Move as well...just need to see some more gameplay. But then again we have seen more 'real' working gameplay from Move than from Natal, so yeah

The PlayStation Move truly is an incredible piece of technology. It was amazing. The possibilities are really endless. I was really happy to get my hands on it at GDC.

It's too bad all they had was ping pong, swordfighting, bowling, on-rail shooters, a painting minigame, a flyswatting minigame, a haircutting minigame, a third person shooter, a fashion dance party game, and a pet simulator.

I agree with some of what was said. I think both will fail pretty badly, but NATAL worse than Move. I think it would feel weird playing a game with no controller at all. And there's no way you could play a shooter game with no controller at all. It may be fine for sports games or something but any kind of complicated game would suck.
