What percentage of their profits is generated by the Pokemon franchise? How much money is it a year?

They make more money per year on Pokemon than you will ever make in your lifetime. :)

But really, probably a large amount, maybe like 30%-40%  Sorry, I forgot to include Mario in my calculations.

30-40% of their annual profits on Pokemon? Not hardly.

During a big release year, it might be 15%. During a regular year, 10% at best.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I kind of forgot about all the other stuff Nintendo makes money off of, like Mario (how could I forget about Mario???)

I read somewhere years ago that at the height of its popularity Pokemon made Nintendo more money in one year than the PS1 made SONY during its entire lifetime.

I must admit most people would take their hats off to a company that can get away with marking up a 5 cents playing card to nearly a buck at retail.

I think its safe to say they make enough money with the franchise to have formed an entire company and subsequent franchise, toy devision and film studio off of the brand.

Not even close.

Though in 2008 and 2009, Nintendo did gain more profit in those single years than the entirety of the PS brand.
