Forums - Gaming Discussion - Crysis 2 Versus Killzone 2 Screenshot Comparison

Hillzone 2's textures are all blurry compared to Crysis 2's. If those are not PC shots of C2 then I'd be interested to know how they can have the textures they have with the small amount of RAM that the PS3/360 has.

You have probably never seen how much ram windows uses then.

It's not 1.75 gigs, which is the difference between a PS3 and a modest gaming computer.

Why is this even a comparison? At full settings, the original Crysis absolutely annihilated Killzone 2 in the graphics department. Crysis 2 will look even better.

That's not a knock on Killzone 2, that's just reality. The PS3 and 360 are rapidly becoming Speak-n-Spells compared to high-end PC equipment.

It's console Crysis 2 vs Killzone 2.

Those are shots of the console version of Crysis 2?

If so, color me impressed.

Im not sure but I think at least some of the screenshots are. At least that was the intention of the thread maker, to compare the console version to KZ2 (I hope).

Maybe if you hadn't cherry picked you would have realized that I wasn't talking at all about ram taken overall by my system, but by specific games. Actually Windows only uses about 1gig of RAM. That's not so much at all.

Killzone 2 is out.

Crysis 2 is not.

Ergo, there isn't really much room for comparison yet.

This. /threadclosed

Streaming tech and good level design make a big difference to the texture resolutions on the consoles.

Well I am running on 8 gigs of ram with windows 7 64 bit. It's currently at 1.6 gigs, 400MG of which go to Firefox which is being overloaded with tabs right now, there are also about 8 processes running at over 40 MB, so that right there is 320MB, if you can't multiply, and numerous other processes which have nothing to do with Windows which are at 10-30 MB. So let me do the basic math for you.

1600MB - 400MB - 320 MB = 1080MB - (whatever the little ones add up to). That leaves a careful person with 1 gig of ram. On my laptop, which runs Vista x32 and only has 2 gigs I have almost no extraneous processes and it's at a stable 1.3 while I'm running a fully loaded Firefox. But hell, I have 8 gigs so it's not like I have to ration my RAM. I have tried very ahrd to max it out, and the closest I have ever gotten to doing was 4.7 gigs.
