If Zelda makes good use of Motion Plus, it could bring the old fanbase of the series back and won't be restricted to just the Ocarina of Time fans. Zelda Wii could become the first game in the series to cross 10m in sales. If Nintendo gets it right.

But that's doubtful considering what Aonuma has been doing with the series over the course of the past decade.

That is what I am Hopeing on, but I have little hope till I hear stuff from E3 etc on it.

I agree also. Potential is there to be huge. But it really does depend. It can't just cater to the Ocarina of Time exclusively. There were great Zelda games before this one. A Link to the Past was phenomenal as was the NES classic. So I'm really hoping the Zelda goes the route of a Mario Kart Wii and creates more fans for the series that I love.

As for Aonuma..yeah he's been taking WAAY too many liberties with Zelda lately. Though with the recent Iwata asks it seemed as though Iwata and company sat Eji's narrow ass down and basically pulled a Godfather on him...I can explain what I mean if no ones seen the Godfather lol.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I have honestly never seen the Godfather I do not care for movies that much.

Meh, screw public opinion.  The best Aonuma Zelda (Majora's Mask) is also the worst selling one.  It's when he listens to the fans that he fucks up, I hopes he goes crazy with Zelda M+...

Most likely. The noveltey has worn off a bit, and the (graphically weak) hardware is showing its age (painfully so, compared to PS3/360). I think most people who ever wanted a Wii have one by now.
Additionaly I get the feeling that many Wii owners are starting to buy HD consoles because they are dissatisfied with Nintendo's software flow AND want better graphics.

Still, the Wii is close to outselling both consoles this year. I think it is a gimmick console with only a few must-buy games, but a lot of people are buying it because of the motion-controls.

Motion Contols do not sell games. Just look at the sales of third parties on the Wii. It's the good to great software that sales the system. For example, New Super Mario Bros. has lifted the sales of the Wii in every region thus far and helped the Wii break the single month sales record during the holidays that was held by the PS2.

I wouldn't classify Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Music, Wii Play, Carnival Games, Deca Sports and Just Dance as great software, but they had tremendous sales, (1 million+) Correct me if I'm wrong, all those games outsold one of the Wii's best games, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Zelda and Mario games are the exceptions to the rule. It isn't clear that good games move consoles when talking about the Wii, as a lot of lower-quality, gimmicky motion-controlled games have dominated several great games for the Wii in sales.

No, Wii Sports Resort is legitimately great.  It desrves every sale it gets.

Wii Sports/Play/Fit/Music/etc are trash though.

Granted, Wii Sports Resort is a huge improvement from Wii Sports, and i enjoyed it for 2 weeks, but I don't think it should've sold 14 million +

Who thought that, obviously it was going to sell like hot cakes and it's a new different Mario game for the Wii, unlike Zelda and SMG2, which will be sequels. NSMB did wonders for the DS so obviously it was going to make just as much of an impact on the Wii. I'm not saying Zelda or SMG2 are not going to sell, both will sell extremely well, but it's not so much of a hardware pusher. Why would someone buy a Wii for those games when they can already buy a Wii now and get SMG1 and Zelda Twilight Princess right now?

First of all, Zelda TP was a port and doesn't compare to Zelda Wii. It's obvious it'll push HW.

Second, you could say the same thing for many games...why buy a PS3/360 for CoD MW2 when you could already buy one for MW1 and other shooters? But MW2 still pushed HW.

Why buy a DS for DQ VI when you could have already bought one for DQ IX? DQ VI still provided a 20k+ boost for the DS.

The same thing for MH and the PSP.

The same thing for the Wii and games like Wii Fit Plus/Wii Sports Resort.

The PS3 will also get a boost for Yakuza 4 next week in Japan.

This argument is rarely correct. SMG2 WILL push HW and so will Zelda Wii. I'll make a bet with you if you want.

Yeah, Zelda's essentially a series reset given Miyamoto's comments on TP (that it was the last "traditional" Zelda).  I'm thinking it's going to be very different, moreso than any of us are expecting.  Like Prime 3 to Other M levels of different.

And while I'd say Zelda, Galaxy 2, Other M and Wii Relax/Vitality/whatever aren't likely to be the 10m sellers we had last year in Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fot Plus and NSMBWii, I still expect the console to sell more this year.  And a big part of it is last year's fresh evergreens pushing new units through the year, something which 2009 didn't really have going for it with Animal Crossing and Wii Music failing to launch in the 2nd half of 2008.

It does not matter if you think a game is good or great. You are not the only person in the market place. The people that have purchased the software will tell you otherwise. Games appeal to different groups of people. If you do not like a game then maybe that game is not for you. But it does not mean that other people can not enjoy the game and think it's a quality title. Those games that you've mentioned are also outselling just about every game on the HD platforms also.

As for you last statement about how it's not clear if good software boost the sales of the Wii. Just go back to 2008 when Brawl, Mario Kart, and Wii Fit were released. That's the biggest Year the Wii has had so far. Oh, and let's not forget Monster Hunter 3 in Japan and New Super Mario Bros. in every region. You are on a sales site and should know this information already. I should not have to do your research for you

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

I think it has peaked, but that's not to say it can't beat 2009 for a couple more years if the software is there.
