Forums - Sales Discussion - FF13 sales very close in UK: PS3: 54% 360: 46%

great so see FF13 doing so well on both consoles. but i still say (and always will) that FF belongs on the Playstation. And it shows, no 576p visuals on 3 discs here.....just true HD on a blu-ray. And for anyone that hasnt bought the game yet, ignore all the LINEAR garbage thats going round....the game has a great story and it takes you on a great ride for about 30 hours, and after that, the linearity vanishes with a whole new 2nd planet to roam. which ever console you own, BUY IT!

Well they didn´t promote the PS3 version and no bundel at all. Maybe those sales would just have gone to the PS3 if it had stayed exclusive, kinda like what happened with MGS4 and Bioshock.

Should be interesting if FFvsXIII actually stays exclusive and how well it does in comparison with FFXIII, but I guess Microsoft is already moneyhatting Square...

I dont get some of the reactions in here.... of course the ps3 version sold more despite its lower user base in the UK.... of course. Its a game that many will have bought their PS3's in anticiaption of.

But anyone saying the sales numbers are poor for the 360 version is kidding themselves.... Its done very well by all accounts.

Exactly, people kept saying that the 360 version wouldn't sell enough to warrant the port. Going multi-platform was crearly the best choice for FFXIII.

I'm not sure about that. Selling 400k more games on 360 doesn't change things much when they already sold 2.5 million copies on PS3. I'm not sure SE is that happy with 360 numbers considering all the efforts they had to do to bring the game to this console.

On a worldwide basis, 360 version of FFXIII is losing 1:5, it's hardly enough to justify even a crappy port like this one.

I doubt such weak numbers will make SE change their mind about FF13 VS PS3 exclusivity... And remember SE already lost a lot of money with 360 JRPG exclusivity on previous games. I think the message was clear enough for them, with the 360 being now basically dead in Japan.

What good would be a 360 version anyway if it's another blurry mess ?

Microsoft money will make FFvsXIII a multiplatform game, and they dind´t lose money at all with the other JRPGs since it pretty much comfirmed that they did fund the devolopement cost for those (at least in ES, enchanted and ToV case).

They did kill the SO franchise though. Once a million seller, now just a niche JRPG played by otakus.

FF13 VS was PS3 exclusive from the start, I doubt they suddenly change their mind a few months before release, especially when 360 JRPG exclusives flopped so hard and with the 360 selling 2k consoles per week in Japan.

People were talking about MGS4 coming to 360 too, and it never came.

In my opinion, there's a lot higher probability you see Mass Effect trilogy on PS3 than FF13VS on 360. EA didn't release any HD console exclusive except this one after all.

SE on the other hand did both exclusives and multiplatform games until now.

MGS4 was appearently done with a PS3 only engine though, while FFvsXIII is being made with the same engine as FFXIII, and yes the other JRPGs bombed on the Xbox 360, but they probably where profitable for them since Microsoft did fund the devolopement cost for those.

Almost all the Japanese devolopers are now using multiplatform engine funded by Microsoft, and i should be interesting to see what they do from now on.

Gust and Sega Japan have skipped the Xbox 360 though, and Capcom appearently dind´t though it was worth it to release Sengoku Basara on the Xbox 360.

Oh, come on... you can't be serious and use inital data to measure the ratios.

Late in the life of the game it will be more something like 8m total sales (5.5 ps3, 2.5 360). So if the sale ratio is about 2:1 SE got a good 33% of sales out of an investment that I'm sure is lesser than 33% of the total costs (developing a 360 version of its crystal toolchain).

Plus, the 360 version is not "a blurry mess" unless you play it in titanovision. It's still a great looking game in DVD quality, and the gameplay is perfectly identical to the ps3 version.

Sega of Japan's reluctance to support 360 with stuff like Yakuza, Valkyria and Power Smash is totally weird to me.  Maybe too many bad memories of awesome Smilebit games bombing on the original Xbox? :/

Gust's mega niche, and really doesn't matter in the scheme of things.  Capcom's giving 360 some very decent support though, with Lost Planet 2 (plus exclusive content), Dead Rising 2 (plus exclusive content), SSFIV (plus exclusive content) and Monster Hunter Frontier.  They're not bringing Basara 3, but that's just an upscaled Wii port for the JP market primarily anyway.

What's the exclusive content for SSF4?

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Capcom lost a first day purchase of Lost Planet 2 from me. Say to fans that your cutting content from the game due to 360 limitation on space. But then say, oh you PS3 owners can buy it as DLC if you really want it, WHEN it can fit on the disk.

20 bucks it is! :D
