No wonder that the Saturn failed if most of its best games are from Sega. Third parties are the ones who control the market and they, for the most part, said "no" to the Saturn.

I actually thought most of its best games were from 3rd parties although they were small sized ones...

Grandia Digital Meseum - Game Arts

Saturn Bomberman

Radiant Silvergun - Treasure

Akumajou Dracula X (aka SoTN) - Konami  / saturn had a poor port but at least the extras were worth hunting down

Devil Summoner : Soul Hackers - ATLUS

Nanatsu kaze no shima - Enix

And you're a fan of the Wii?  The Saturn had more good third party games than the Wii has good third party games.  They just all came out in Japan, where the console actually succeeded.  And I'm not trying to rip on the Wii, it has some really fun games, but almost all of them seem to be made by Nintendo.

Saturn had major 3rd party support; it has ~1,300 games. It just didn't get much support off any western devs.

Ah dude, I love the Saturn. Radiant Silvergun, Dodonpachi, Soukugourenti, Guardian Heroes, Dragon Force, Die Hard Arcade. Silhouette Mirage, X-men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Street Fighter, Shining Force III, and the list goes on.

I love Saturn!

If only.... if only I bought Radiant Silvergun for the Saturn when it was at an EB locally when I had a chance.  I passed on it.  ARGH!

That is the top reason.  It was like $25 or $35 if I recall.  It would of also offered me a chance to play it.

well saturn sold very well in japan. Hell it was neck to neck with PSone until FFIIV came out. And it had a considerable lead over the N64. As for the western market.. well SEGA really screwed that up. Bad dev tools+ hard to develop for quads(no matter how much better they looked than polygons), couldn't save the system.

I see some much VC/PSN/XBLA potential in saturn titles.. SEGA really ought to get those out. The best selling title on XBLA in japan is VO:OT.. that isnt a coincidence..

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

owner of : atari 2600, commodore 64, NES,gameboy,atari lynx, genesis, saturn,neogeo,DC,PS2,GC,X360, Wii

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Extremely unlikely. The Saturn is very difficult to emulate, no emulators run it to a high standard as of yet. VC is out simply because of space limitations. VO:OT was a DC game by the way.
