For me XII is probably the worst FF. It's the only FF I couldn't finish. I actually liked X-2 better than XII, which is somewhat disturbing.

The most important things in a JRPG for me are story/characters and fighting system and I didn't like either in FF XII.

The story bored me - the characters had no character/were pretty flat - I hated the fighting system. It felt like an MMORPG without the MMO part.

I can live with a bad fighting system, if the characters and their story are compelling (or vice versa), but when I don't like either, I get bored and stop playing, which is exactly what happened.

I'll give it another try someday, just for the sake of finishing it - maybe I will like it then, but I very much doubt it.

My ranking of FFs since it migrated to Sony:

1. FF VII
2. FF X
3. FF IX
4. FF VIII
5. FF X-2
6. FF XII

I'm still waiting to get my copy of FF XIII, but since all the people who liked FF X seem to love it, I'm probably gonna love it to.

FF13 will be taking 2nd place from FF10.

I think I told you that after I beat chapter 7.

 scale & size & awesomness of Chapter 11 shocked me.....truly amazing

so it goes up a notch (after stalling in quality from Chapter 7 - 9....then dipping in chapter 10).

However its too late to beat FF6....unless Chapter 12 & 13 are something I have never seen in gaming (which I highly doubt).

FFX>FFVII>FFXII>FFVIII>FFXIII for me. Though the only ones that are "set in stone" are FFX and FFVII.

I personally loved it. Great gameplay, graphics, great production values, great story, great writing, great VA, great everything. One of the best !

I don't understand when people criticise Gambits when you Had a CHOICE to use them or not. It WAS NOT a forced element of XII's battle system.

I think FF13 is the best FF I've played for far.

I never finished FF12 though.

Anyway I agree with you that it's a good game, not the best but it's in my top 5. But I really hated Vaan and most of the characters and the story. I'd prefer some emo pussy then Vaan, he was just annoying. But I'd have to say its probably the funnest Final Fantasy game I've ever played.

The problem with FFXII that most people had with it was the two things that Final Fantasy is mostly known for, good story and good characters. Both of which FFXII didn't have, but gameplay was probably the best even though it was so different then the others so it kind of balances itself out.
