If the first week is any indication, March NPD is going to be epic.

And the sad thing about it is, Matt will probably write another article trolling Nintendo again after that.  There's no accountability in this industry.

I'd love to see the reaction if and when Wii outsells the PS3 in God of War 3 and Final Fantasy XIII month.  Would be beyond epic.

Perhaps when he stated that "Wii dominance is at an end" he was referring to the fact that its consecutive months winning streak was broken.
I really don't see what's so bad about this blog. Even the very last "Takeaways so far" paragraph implies that you can't always believe what you hear...

Given the trite that's been coming out of IGN regarding the Wii the past half a year, it's really hard to believe that that is what he meant by "Wii dominance is at an end". Why else would he bring up Wii HD in the sentence right after that?

Beating a third place console which happens every month or lose two straight NPD?

If Wii loses March I promise to personally melt down. I don't know about other Wii fans.

I think a Wii replacement in 2012 is about right, it gives Nintendo a chance to take in what happens with Move and Natal and they would almost certainly 1st to market with next gen. At the very least I expect Nintendo to be ready for a 2012 launch if they feel they need to and push back another year if they don't.

I agree that there are plenty of Wii bashers at IGN; Hatfield and Clayman are quick to criticize it any chance they get.  Matt Cassamassina is actually a Nintendo fan as exemplified by his statements regarding Nintendo's prowess in their motion control superiority.  But you have to admit, we're all anxious to see what Nintendo's next system will be.  Just imagine Zelda running in 720p with graphics like Uncharted 2 or GOW3.

It really doesn't matter; Nintendo may lose March to PS3 because of GOW3, but I'm sure Nintendo dominance will be back in effect thereafter.

Neither is really epic.  The former is nothing special.  The latter would be noteworthy, but the Wii is millions ahead for it to really make a difference.

The point is, Wii is supposed to be a wrap based on Cassamassina's comment.  And Wii HD must be rushed to the market now that it lost to the 360.  Now imagine how dumb he (and the 127 million PS3 analyst) wouldfeel when the Wii outsells the PS3 in a month of two huge releases - two of it's biggest games ever. 

They'd have a meltdown.  And epic one.

If the Wii does indeed beat the PS3 during March NPD with Final Fantasy 13 and God of War 3 released, HEADS WILL ROLL.

And then we will get the "wait until GT5" chants from guys like Cassasmassinaasinaaasnina
