Forums - Microsoft Discussion - X360 Hit 10 Million !!

Well if you go by NPD probably not, but here on VGC it will.
I guess it will when Microsoft has its press statement since ioi says NPD is undertracking the Xbox.

I think you'll have to wait for the 1st Quarter press announcement to see if it would really be true.  Remember how MS stuffed the channel around the holidays last year and then claimed they would only ship 1.5 to 2m in the first half of this year?

I expect the same this time around.

Probably because for the past 3-4 months, the X360 has been outpacing last year's 3-4 months. October, for example, the X360 via NPD was up 40%+ vs. last year. A significant increase.

When you have a system that's been selling alot better than last year for a decent bit of time (since August), it shows that the trend is, the system will sell better.

The X360 has faced brutal competition the past few months - continued Wii dominance, PS3 price drops, all in the middle of RROD problems, Moore quiting, and such. Yet despite that, it sells oh-so well since August. That shows that even from analysis standpoint it'll do a bit better. Add in the huge holiday lineup that MS has, all culminating in December, and it'll sell great (atleast 1.4m).

yep,360 will sell this holiday more then last holiday, due to all the multi-plats and great exclusives halo 3 mass effect etc

I think they'll manage it. I imagine we're going to see a significant jump this week with Assassin's Creed launching and people preparing for ME, along with the traditional holiday ramp up. Weekly numbers will continue climbing and 360 is already tracking higher per week this year than in the comparable time period last year, so it stands to reason they'll meet or beat their hardware numbers from 2006.

It probably will.

something tells me yes...

I think so.

mM

easily, 360 rules north america

3 more weeks in November should at least get it close to 9M. Last year it did more than 1M in December in the US alone, so 10M before the end of the year is highly likely.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Yes, easy as cake.
