Initially I was bemused by some of their reviews of Ps3 exclusives, I thought these guys will improve so I kept quiet. Than the whole Halo 3 & Metal Gear Solid 4 review controversy, I said to myself there must have been some  misplacement of review score they must have published the EDGE Magazine with the wrong Mgs4 review score. So I accepted the mistake and continued with my gaming.

Edge published the review score for Bayonetta which was 10/10 I could not believe it, than came the last straw which was disrespecting Kratos and now they have published their review score for God of war 3 which is 8/10 this is absolutely outrageous their credibility and sales numbers are in the toilet even Tiger Woods has had a better year than EDGE. 

I wont put up with this garbage anymore, Bayonetta is at best a 8/10 game and thats being generous its on borderline 90 on metacritic. What will happen in the coming weeks my fellow members is, if my sources are correct Edge magazine will never again review Ps3 exclusives. Im not the only one who is pissed Sony Computer Entertainment has had enough.

Let's be serious, no way in hell can you say that Bayonetta is a better game than GOW3 with all due respect any true gamer will know quality when they see it and gow3 is quality and than some. I suggest you look up the intro for GOW3 on youtube seeing is believing my friend.

As you may know im as balanced as they come, you wont find a more balanced poster on this site for the exception of snake2, it angers me when Sony Santa Monica puts such hard work and effort into giving us gamers an unforgettable experience which they have done, all that sweat and long hours they have put in for us gamers is truly remarkable and we should applaud them not spit in their faces or disrespect them while reviewing another game, EDGE magazine has no class, no credibility and they probably dont even have a ps3 in their office.

I dont know why Sony is still allowing them to review their games, but action needs to be taken immediately. For those that say that 8/10 is a great score which it is but the problem is their consistency which is down right criminal, some of the games that received 9s and 10s is out of order.

EDGE if you're reading this please leave the industry, you're magazine does not sell, I give you 6 months tops before you run out of money and dont expect any government bail out!

This is a perfectly acceptable review score. Every reviewer is different and has different things that peek their personal tastes. An 8/10 is not a bad score at all. Quite frankly I salute Edge for not giving in to the "IT HAS TO BE 10/10 TO BE GOOD!" stigma that is taking over the reviewer industry.

I actually wish Edge had their reviews online so I could read them since I respect them much more than the sites that just hand out 10 after 10 after 10.

8/10 is a great score and people alway say this magazine is harsh with its scores....stop complaining damn!

And someone needs to post that list of PS3 games that Edge has rated below Meta, and then the list of 360 games directly on, or above meta

I don't agree with their scores either most of the time, but they do write up some fantastic articles. Did you just say that Sony aren't happy with the score? I don't think they'd care considering GOW 3 will probably outsell Bayonetta's lifetime in it's first week on both platforms...

Edge reviewed GoW III well...they didn't review Bayonetta well though.

Its not acceptable at all. GoW 3 is not a "not bad at all" it's just as deserving as a 10 as bayonetta if not significantly more. The problem here is not the score, you're right, 8/10 is fine. If other games were given 8/10 as well, that would be great!

The problem is consistancy and how some games get knocked points for things and others do not. Halo 3 is every bit exactly the same as Halo 2 as GoW3 is the same as GoW2, yet the scores do not reflect this.

When reviews have significant impacts on how well a game sells we're getting a little out of hand dont you think? Consistancy is required.  

It exists for many games, and yes, xbox360 games as well, its just much worse with these ps3 games.

"In substance it’s nothing new, merely a magnificent, beautiful monster of an FPS sequel."

I can absolutely assure you they will say that the gameplay hasn't changed much from GoW2->3 and say it is not deserving of a higher score for it. 

How is that fair? Just an example.

In any case, GoW3 is a 90-> game. Any review under that should not count. The game is the king of its own realm and is of exceptional quality. You're looking at one of the finest games ever made and edge gives it an 8.
