this is what usually happens when the PC gamer doesn't have new games to play, and when it's angry that some of its best games are going to be played and supported more on consoles.

this guy is not even a PC gamer !

he is pushing Crisis2 because he is hoping the 360 version will beat the PS3 one, that is all ...

Humm? As a PC gamer I wouldn't care less about GoW 3, but as a indie dev I am interested in new tech. So as a game its another button mashing for me anyway. And I think its stupid to say that game XYZ is running at 50% or something. Truth is much more complicated(or more simple ie. percentages do not really matter).

50% you say?

You know, I don't see it happening with the 7800gtx Nvidia graphics card PS3 has and the 256 RAM split.

Maybe cell is running at 50% of its capacity but all other components are working overtime.

So in theory maybe...in real life prolly not.

In theory my PC video card is about 20X more powerful than 360/PS3...but I only get 5-6X more performance out of it :D

oh......so it's more like a ps3 hater than a pc elitist...

yep, he is an insane hater ...

Let's look beyond the sensationalistc thread title. He more or less said that they are 60% done with the engine, not that they can push 40% more polygons or frames per second.

For example he talks about animation blending, which gives better looking and more natural characters, requires a bit of extra CPU and quite some work on the algorithmic side. But surely the effect of which can't be measured in a percentage in any scale. Same could be probably said of many other engine subsystems.

I think that the developer of his own game knows a bit more about his engine than all the non-believers here. They spent all these years building the engine for PS3, so it's only logical that now that they have it, there is room for tweeks and improvements which they couldn't managed while developing the game.

GoW1 was graphically smashing, yet then GoW2 come out and noone could believe it. I think it's pretty much given that their next game will be even more impressive, that's the only logical conclusion anyone can reach.

Yeah I would believe that.

For GOWIII, people actually sat down and did some real mathematical work rather than just played with Unreal 3 engine on a platter so they can tweak and optimize all they want.

The fact that they are running the game with a variable frame rate at 720p indicates that they did a lot of tweaking and got some parts running at 60 fps while others they left at 30... I bet they prolly have a bunch of builds, 1080p @ ~30fps, sub 720p @ 60fps...etc

Lazy developers.

Edit: Well I guess not, they are first party after all and first party developers are never lazy.

Wow, crybaby much? Brand new game, it's not even out, it's being highly acclaimed by critics, it looks amazing, yet some how the developers are lazy? You make the least sense ever.

They are pulling percentages out of their behinds as shamelessly as Fox.
Can't we just agree/settle that the game is awesome and not mentioned some imaginary numbers?

It's also weird that the PS3 devs are pulling these numbers while the X360 not. Are they moneyhatted to mention it?

You really should give me the contact info of the spy agency you work for...cuz I for one have no clue if it's false numbers or not

Santa Monica has always delivered....I haven't played GOW3 but from what I have seen, if they can top that in their next big project then they would have wowed me yet again...can't wait

All developers who under-utilise the PS3 are lazy.
