I played it some more today, and it's really addictive. I'm liking the game more the longer I play. The levels are designed greatly, and the sidequests keep things from getting predictable.

One question, what about left-handed people like me? :(

I don't mind doing the shooting part with my left hand as I don't notice it anymore, but won't the sword fighting be akward?

I see no problem for lefties like you. The character in the game holds his sword with two hands, so you never feel out of sync with the game, regardless if your left or right handed. The gun, I think, is also hold with two hands. At least the first gun (haven't unlocked the other guns yet).

Is it even remotely close to 1:1 sword fighting? From the last E3 presentation I was quiete hyped for it, but that slowly faded away as more info was beeing unveiled.

Absolute 1:1? No, and I'm glad it's not. Remotely close? Definitely. You still have to make motions to do the moves, so it's not like you can just do anything with the sword and it translates. But every motion you do feels natural and distinct, and it always reckognize what you do perfectly.

Seriously guys, both the shooting and the slashing aspects of the controls have been 100% nailed. I have not played a Wii game which controlled better than Red Steel 2 (WSR and Metroid are close, but not better).

Okay, so the controls are flawless, the presentation is gorgeous, the gameplay is unique and doesn't get repetitive, and the framerate is locked at 60fps.

I'm glad Ubi didn't make a liar out of me when I predicted that this game would deliver on their promise of 'Nintendo-like quality.'

I'm totally jealous, as if you didn't know already.

Great to hear that it won't be awkward.

And I wouldn't mind if the gun was in one hand as I don't notice it at all anymore thanks to metroid prime 3.

Sounds...excellent actually.
Does the gameplay get repetitive/ uninteresting enemy waves?

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Wow, the more I hear, the better this game sounds. And I loved it from the start.

This game is going to be big. For once there's no need for pessimism, it sounds like they got things right.

The appeal is broad. The controls are tight. The game is fun and varied. The marketing has been happening early, online at least. The only thing it still has going against it is the Red Steel name. Multiplayer would be awesome but honestly I think they were right to exclude it for something so pioneering, they could have fucked things up if they took on too much to handle (remember The Conduit).

This will do two million at least.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Lack of multiplayer is going to hold this game from being a success. Simply idiotic to take away the one good feature from RS1.

Anyway I do think this game looks awesome. Won't however buy it at fullprice because of the lack of multiplayer.

XD That's hilarious. I pity you, man.

That travesty is forever engraved into my mind as the single worst multiplayer experience I ever had the displeasure to play. If you can call it that.

Well, I have to correct that a bit.

There aren't any "levels" in the traditional sense, and you will be backtracking a lot (though never too far). But every once in a while, you'll enter a Point of no Return (the game even calls it that!) and if you agree to go through, you'll never be able to go back.

The game doesn't have that much variety so far, but the gameplay is definitely interesting enough to be VERY addictive.

I've aso started to play this and am about halfway through I think. I 'obtained it by other means' because I ddn't want to wait 2 weeks for my pre-order to arrive in the post.

I have to say this is the best game I've played on the Wii, including first party titles.

The swing detection, the finishing moves, the special powers and the weapon upgrades work really well, particularly the finishing moves. The Bearded One said in an interview a while back that he wanted to create a sword fighting game that made the gamer feel like a badass, and he's certainly succeeded.

Technically, it's very impressive - high res textures, great quality rim lighting and the screenshots and videos really don't do it justice. And more importantly, once you've calibrated MotionPlus before you've started that's it - you don't need to do it again like you do by pressing down on the D-Pad in Wii Sports Resort. I'm guessing that it's using Ai's LiveMove middleware for the MotionPlus recognition and it automatically recalibrates whenever the remote is held still. You don't even notice it doing it, generally after doing one of the finishing moves you naturally pause for a split second and I'm guessing it does it then.

It starts off reasonably easy on Master difficulty (the middle of the three settings) but gets progressively harder. Like Chrizum I died a couple of times in the beginning but as you learn the finishing moves and special moves and use them it starts to get easy again for a short time, then the difficulty starts to ramp up to keep it balanced. As you get further into the game the enemies start to get quicker, occasionally do strong attacks, block and dodge your attacks, attempt to surround you and attack at the same time and have their own special powers. As I said, I'm about halfway through I think and I'm really looking forward to getting further.

This is guaranteed to get a Metascore in the high nineties, it's brilliant. If there's anyone having doubts whether to buy this game or not then STOP IT!!! BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!
