wow seriously, complaining about pre-alpha.

If it wasn't ready to show, it shouldn't be Shown. If Sony feels they can show it off, then we can feel like we can judge it.

And Sony themselves made expectations high. Not to mention that after this many years of the Wii being out there, you'd expect the competitions answer to it to be substantially improved.

If future builds show off better controls, then great. But for now, given what we've seen, there are some hitches in "We too" land.

Sony is damned either way you look at it, stof.

It's clear reading most of these that with the mature tech tests 1:1 is supported, but that the pre-alpha games and code aren't there yet.

I think Sony is allowing the Natal hype, etc. push it into revealing versions of stuff too early. There is no reason a Wii mote like controller with video pickup of the ball shouldn't be capable of 1:1 (or close enough to not matter) unless the software supporting it isn't mature enough (which could include the basic libraries for the motion sensing of course not just the games).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

All of the companies are in some form. Natal received the same amount of backlash when it was first shown, and let's not even start on how the Wii was treated pre-launch.

I guess you're right. Really though, I'm just trying to point out to people how ignorant they are being. If it's been done so much and people eat crow everytime, why does it still happen?

They wouldn't have been doomed if they didn't show off a product that wasn't ready. In fact they're not even doomed now!

I'm just saying if you show something to people, they're going to form an opinion on it.

Not doomed, DAMNED!

If they didn't show extra games that they stated were in pre-alpha phase, there would have been fewer games and then people would have talked about how there were only 3 games there after months of development. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

oh haha. ok, damned.

Wait, I wouldn't Damn Sony for not showing off stuff that wasn't ready to be shown off.
What can I say. If you say your product is going to revolutionize motion controls, and then show off motion implementation that largely fails to excite those that try it out, the fact that it was too early to show off might be a cause but it's not an excuse.

I'm sure it will end up being a lot better. But until then... it's not.

From what I am reading so far, Sony got something special in the making. Except for that fighting game, it's a been a positive reaction so far. I don' expect the internet to like it, they didnt like the Wii either, I mean there was a huge meltdown on the name alone. What Sony needs to focus on is the advertising, make it look family friendly, show how it looks while people are playing, get celebraties like Elen and oprah to show it in their shows, and bingo....success.

I know that's what Microsoft is going to do.

It will work fine, Nintendo needed time to work out their quirks too.
But a revolution it is not. The one thing that I really think is new & interesting is the combination with the Eye camera. Eye Pet really was an eye-catcher on last year's Gamescom, and clever uses of this overlay technique could have tremendous mass-market appeal.

Well, we'll see what Nintendo will do. They sure have been working on an appropriate answer for over a year by now, so I expect them to present something soon.

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

... I just watched some vids - don't you agree that that playing with a lightbulb looks a bit goofy and might prove annoying? I typically play in a rather dark room, I could imagine that waving a lightbulb in front of my face all the time would eventually get on my nerves.
