Until the next sidescrolling Mario Game on a Home Console? New Super Mario Wii is probably my favorite overall game on the Nintendo WIi. The D.S. version is also high on my list if not number one. Also, do you t hink they will ever make another Top Down Zelda?

I think it will be 2-3 years I say this because New Super Mario Bros Wii has sold millions and proven the point people want side scrolling platforming Mario. It is to big in sales to ignore. I also think this is long enough in between that it will not kill sales of New Super Mario Bros Wii and will not become overly done.

WIth Zelda done more like the first few I say any chance of that would be on a handheld. I am not sure how the market would respond to this. Just how I would.

Also Iwata stated more would be made due to the spectacular sales.

I was actually kind of thinking abou that too. On one hand it would make me get one ASAP, but on the other I do not think it would really show off new hardware the way it would need too as a launch title. Ofcourse I could always dream( dreams of useable Yoshi's in all the worlds). I do not want to wait more than 5 years for one again though. If they can make a sequal to Galaxy this soon I do not see why  this one would wait till a new system.Who knows maybe it will be 2-3years for the next system

i think it depends on the life of the wii

if the next nintendo console doesn't come out for at least another 3 years then i would say they will release one for wii in about a year and a half or 2 years

if the wii gets a successor in 2 years or less then it will prob be a launch title or released shortly thereafter

No more 2D Mario on Wii until this one loses steam imo, which might be a long, long time. Maybe on the next home console.

Top down Zelda? Yeah I'm sure there'll be more of that, they won't abandon such beauty. Most likely restricted to handhelds though.

I want one only if it is very different. Like SMW2 was to SMW.

Why?
The NSMBWii sales won't slow down, like Mario Galaxy;
At the end of the first half of this year there will be 3 main Mario games at Wii;
Nintendo will need a guarantee in case the new features of the next console don't attract the crowd.

I second that. NSMBWii was fine the way it was, but the next one really should do things different, in the way that SMB2 or Yoshi's Island did. 

On topic, I don't expect a second 2D Mario this gen. When Iwata became president, Nintendo changed their tactics: They realized that sequels tend to kill off successful games much too early. Look at NSMB DS or the Mario Party games. 

I'm happy tho for Galaxy being an exception :)
