Forums - Gaming Discussion - Future of Tiger Woods PGA Golf

What is the future of Tiger Woods PGA golf? That is the question that I pose here.

I know that EA has said it will stick by the embattled golfer. But as of this writing, only it and Nike remain sponsors.

More to the point, two facts about the game sales make one wonder how much longer having Tigers' name attached to the series (where it has been since 1999) makes sense.

First of all, sales have generally been in decline. The 10 series games were all outsold by the 09 series games on al three platforms. Related to that, the sales for the 10 series on the Wii and Xbox 360 were the lowest ever for those platforms  (and while the games are still on sale, it is doubtful that a game that will be replaced in three months will generate 70k more sales on Xbox or 120k more sales on Wii). (The PS3 did not sell well in the 07 or 08 series, making its sales track a bit different).

Also, the top selling version of the game has been on the Wii.  And the Wii has different buying demographics that other systems.

So, when the agreement comes up for renewal -- does EA say "yea" or "nay". I think it might be the latter -- especially if Tiger does not return to winning golf tournaments soon.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
