In an effort to give our international users just how crazy Americans get after a Thursday spent watching football, spending awkward time with relatives and eating far too much Turkey, I'd like this thread to be used for stories, pictures, and the unavoidable shopping madness that is Black Friday.

So post stories, pictures, and everything unusual or interesting you've bought for yourself or your friends on that dreaded day that brings tears to the eyes of every capitalist across the world.

Wish I was in the States, with the current $ vs € exchange it's already cheap, the prices are a lot lower anyway and with these crazy discounts for everything it would almost be for free.

Wait till december, is there still some discount craze left by then?

Last year I woke up at 4 AM to go to Best Buy and buy myself a portable DVD player and a couple of CD's I wanted. I arrived at BB at about 430 and there was already a line of about 200 people in front of me (I think they opened at 6 or 630).

Once I got what I wanted I went to look for the checkout line only to find it wrapped around the store and out the door. I believe it ended up being close to two hours just to check out. I may have saved about $40 total that day.

Worth it? No. But fun with friends.

I'm going to buy a 22" widescreen monitor for $170 (part instant savings part mail-in-rebate...still great deal though).  I may get a videogame if it's cheap enough...there's a few Wii games for $35, and some PC games are $35.  I'll probably get a couple hundred DVD-Rs for a few bucks, and I'll see what else there is for gifts if there's time.

My friend is coming for the same monitor...so hopefully there's enough hehe. We'll be going to Circuit City at 10 pm Thursday night most likely. I'll have to bring my DS...he'll probably bring his laptop...we may get a couple more friends to join us...who knows.

Maybe I'll take pictures, I hate taking random pictures though...I guess I'm the only one who feels like a douche when I pull out a camera and start taking snapshots.

U Americans spend WAY too much cash!... Just damn, no wonder why ur economy is falling behind the EU's or China's... Hint: $ vs Euro's or ur problems with people who can't repay lent money from banks...

We, here in Europe, tend to be a bit more carefull with our cash. For example: All i'm getting for Xmas (Sinterklaas or sint nicolas, santaclaus is just a rip-off from that btw... Ours dates from somehwere 13th century)... Well, all i'm getting for Xmas is A component cable for my Wii, Guitar hero III and some new 'gadgets' like the Sony Ericsson W910i...

Trust me, I'm not going to get much from others as gifts for Christmas.  And this is probably all I'm going to buy except for some additional gifts for friends and family later.  GH3 is freakin expensive, and I still have a brick Nokia phone...so I don't waste all my money hehe.

And don't be so quick to judge...I save and spend thriftily through the year...Black Friday is when everything is on sale and there are excellent deals.

This coming Friday is one of the only days I ever buy more expensive things, like a monitor. I wanted a monitor for nearly a year now, but I hold for this day so I can save money.

Are those Black Friday deals THAT huge?!... Cuzz the only thing happening here is i get a coupon which gives me 7,50 euro's of 1 game (that comes with a magazine)... And eehrm... 1 shop that has: Trade in your PS2 or Xbox (no Gamecube, how lame) and get 50 euro's off of the PS3 or X360... (Again, no Nintendo)... Thats about it...

Boring hu?! Which i was in America now *drooling!* IPHONE!!! *drooling!*

Yes, the deals are that huge. I only buy DVD-Rs on Black Friday, as I can get a couple hundred blank discs for like $6, a monitor that normally costs a minimum of $270 any other day now costs $170, and tons of $50 videogames are on sale for $25-$40...great deals indeed.

The problem is stores get so busy, you really need to get there at 10 pm - midnight in order to get the thing you really want.

Also, I may get a hard drive if I can find a 300 GB for $50ish

Please...just go on a Sunday. And also, people should have been trying earlier, not now...now's too busy.
