Comparing PS3: Its selling faster than PS one (102m LTD) but slower than PS2 (140m+ LTD) so it should come somewhere in between but right now who knows.

Nope, as of the 3rd year mark PS3's slowed behind PS1 now (1998 was when PS1 really took off and started hitting near 20m annually).  It's always been behind in Japan, but now it's behind in Europe and (well) behind in America too.

Launch aligned, PS1 right now would roughly be (production shipments, not sales)...

  • 20,620,000 NA (March 1999)
  • 18,540,000 EU (March 1999)
  • 11,510,000 JP (March 1998)

Around the Network

127 million ltd sales sounds about right but for the Wii's total ltd sales. Over and done with in 8 years. Last 2 years of 10 year cycle would not sell much at all.

Next generation system due out in 6th year of the wii which would see the slow down in the Wii systems sales as customers jump on board new system within three years.

Same could apply to PS3 and 360. They would be both lucky to break 70 million console sales ltd.. One will do it the other will be stuck in the 65 to 70 million sales range.

Two *100 million console selling systems in a generation- is never going to happen. DS not included here because it is a portable and costs much less than the consoles.

Just know Nintendo has been getting more numbers than Sony these last few updates.
