Thier are retaliers you can find ps3's at just like there was always someone who had a Wii you just had to find it. My brother just got a PS3 Saturday from the Wal-Mart where he lives.

Likely the rumored new sku. Sales usually drop way off after a new sku is announced as people wait for the new one to release. My friend had been searching for the last two weeks and finally found one. He is going to be pissed off if he learns that a new/improved sku is launching in a few weeks.

lets not over speculate, sony didnt expect high sales for the ps3 or high demands therefore made less ps3's, i dont think its because of some kind of profit conspiracy to increase profits or hype, they just didnt expected people to wine about not having enough ps3's out there where its lacking, if your not pushing out games that will sell systems its logical to decrease production of ps3's, once god of war, gt5 or some kind of fps game comes out i predict an increased ps3 production shall increase by 50 percent and right now they are probably increasing production to counter ff13 demands, so yea i think i just became an analyst,

theres gotta be an new sku on the way. probably even cheaper to produce for sony.
