My friend picked one up when he visited Japan - and I tinkered with it yesterday. Its fantastic - 4 more weeks, and I'll have one :)
Really glad I held off the DSi now - the DSi + XL changes make it awesome.

Nice comparison between a portable game system and a laptop there... I'm just emphasizing how much of a useless upgrade it is IMO.

Not really an upgrade, just a different model for people who want a bigger system. I mean I don't even take my DS out of the house so for someone like me, a DSi XL would be great. I'd prefer to spend the money on games though so I won't be buying one.

Funny. Since I got a job, I also play my lite mostly on the way there, at breaks, and the way home. It's just that not everyone walks around with a bag or backpack... I put my lite in my skirt pocket, the XL would never fit lol. |

QFT. I play most of my epics (FF, DQ, The world ends with you, Shin Megami Tensei, etc) on my DS, at home. So the (WAY) bigger screens more than make up for the loss of portability.

For a second you've even fooled me into thinking that I actually misspelled this!
@puffy: Mmm, yeah... for people who want that stuff.

If you're upgrading from a DSi to an XL then yeah I kind of agree with you.
The screen does really look nice though. I was thinking about upgrading to a DSi shortly before the LL (XL) was released here in Japan, but decided to hold off just for comparison's sake. I wasn't even really thinking about buying one either. When I saw the display units (DSi next to the DSi LL both with NSMB on) I was just like Wow! and that's what made me pick up the LL right then and there.
Well I usually have to carry a lot of materials around, so I pretty much always have my backpack when I go to work. The LL does fit into my front jean's pocket if that means anything (I don't have large/baggy jeans either), though I wouldn't want to carry it in there for a long walk.
edit: If I had waited for a price drop before I bought my Lite then I never would have gotten one as the Lite has never had a price drop here in Japan, haha. It's the same price as a PSP 3000 (16,800 yen) Nintendo price cuts are usually few and far between.
