Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo renders Sony’s progress irrelevant

So if I take the obvious joke and the general tone of this thread into consideration, then if I like God of War, Halo etc more than Wii fit, Brain Training etc then it is actually the reverse and I am not mature?
I think some of you take this whole mature vs immature thing a little too lightly. It take alot more than someone's taste in videogames to determine if they are mature or not.

Nintendo can tell them selves this all they want, its envy , PS changed gaming in a major way, then MS can along and also changes gaming, Sony and MS offer the very best experience in gaming today, from excluives , graphics, online play, Dolby digital surrounsound. I own both a PS3 and 360 now and they are both great consoles, I love them, I can't even take Nintendo seriously as a gaming comsole, to me its a home gym, and nothing more. Nintendo can lie to them selves all they want, true gamers no whats up !!, and so do developers and the industry, that is why so many developers are dropping major development funs from Wii to apply to PS3, they know PS and MS are the future of gaming. The best part is we can all Thank Nintendo for screwing over Sony back before PS1 days , made Sony so mad because it was a straight stab in the back, Sony said Ok, we will move forward by ourselves sinse it was Sonys technology in the first place. PS was born, So I guess Thank You Nintendo !!

I know this is a troll post. But for those who don't know.

Nintendo never backstabbed anyone. Sony had planned to go alone from the beginning. Sony tried to trap Nintendo in a contract that would turn them into a Sony developer once the SNES/SFC era was over. Sony demanded more than Nintendo was willing to offer. Yamauchi, Nintendo's president at the time, saw through it and told them that the contract was unacceptable, so they went with Phillips instead. The Sony fanboys will continue to pretend this never happened and that Sony was the victim there. Oh well...

If given the choice of entertainment some people would work out, some would go dancing, others may watch a sporting event, and others may go to a movie. Not everyone sees storytelling as being a cornerstone of entertainment, so why should videogames (or interactive-entertainment in general) focus only on what some people want?

Because media (and by media I mean media outlets like internet review sites and magazines) says graphics and 'story' are the most important things.

The majority of people know otherwise, but just enough people are being exploited to make the machine keep running.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

This is news to me.

From the story i have read about this issue it was like this. Nintendo wanted to get into the CD games market. They saw Sony made sega's Sega CD add on and thought we will just get Sony to make ours too. But Sony started talking about making a new system of there own down the line. Nintendo didn't like the idea of Sony knowing the inner workings of the Genisis and the SNES and then useing all that info to make a new system down the road and turn into a compeitor. At some tradeshow, CES 92 i think, Sony made the anouncement that they were going to be working with Nintendo on a new CD based Nintendo system. Then Nintendo gets up there and tell everyone forget what Sony said we are acually going to be making the CD system with Philips.

I don't blame Nintendo for droping Sony but they really should have told them before Sony anouced at it CES.

OT: This has to be a joke thread and if its not? Well then I feel real sorry for the OP's narrow minded view of gaming. Ditto for anyone that agrees with him.

  Kinect! who needs video games!

Well i got a Wii for my wife brithday and my 6 year old loves it. The Wii is ok but to me its not a real gaming console it feels more like a cheap toy. Yes the Wii has sold over 68million units but sells can only go so far. Alot of 3rd party developer say they dont make alot of money on Wii software sells. I think if the Sony arc is done right the wii needs to worry. I play my 360 and PS3 ever day the Wii not so much to much shovelware out there.

It's been a while since somebody has said all of this sort of thing unironically.

You realize that the article was written as a parody, yeah?

While I'm not sure if Sony has the right mindset to make the Arc any threat to Nintendo I kinda hope they do. If Sony really goes hard at Nintendo with the motion controls I think Nintendo will have to step up there game is the areas there lacking. Mainly online and power.

However I don't see Sony doing the Arc right. First of all it wasen't just motion controls that sold Wii's. It was Wii fit and a very low price point. And if Sony just takes the Arc and adds it to "core" games there going to miss the boat and fail terribly.

But hey if theres one thing we have learned since 1995 its that Sony is GREAT at coping Nintendos idea's. So one things for sure Arc is going to be interesting and I hope it drives Nintendo to new hights.
