Never played a SOCOM game before so wasn't really interested when this was announced but all the information coming out has definately peaked my interest now. Will certainly keep an eye on it.

Yeah, I can understand being disappointed that this wasn't Legend of Dragoon or some other game that would really stand out from the pack, but the fact is that Zipper wouldn't be making those games and there is no way that this game interferes with any plans to develop a much needed JRPG for the PS3. The fact that Zipper was able to develop this game while they were finishing MAG and Sony was able to keep their mouth shut about it actually could be seen as a good sign that Sony could have several other secret games almost ready to be released.


Also, the PS3 needs games with local coop, whether they're shooters or not. I sure hope they don't leave that out of this game, and they're saving it for an Uncharted 2 multiplayer style reveal a few months from now.

agreed.... best game period is socom 2. I cant believe this I have no want of anything else in gaming but another solid socom.... This is it.

I'm slightly bummed that its not Resistance 3, but I'm immediately glad that its SOCOM 4!! That is so awesome! And its Zipper not slant six.

Ok so let me just think for a bit... just because you like Modern Warfare, or Killzone, or Halo, or any other shooter on the market, does that mean that Zipper can't make what they're good at? Besides, Socom is a great TPS, loved their first game for the PSP, one of the few games that actually made me happy for having a PSP. Hope the graphs are nearly as good as Uncharted 2 (don't expect much), but they must be better than MAG. Glad to have a true Socom on the PS3 :D

Interesting. I never really played the Socom games because I never really played my ps2 online, but I'll be looking into this.

Graphics look alright. Environments look good, but the character models are pretty weak. It's as if they're just using the MAG engine, only on a much smaller scale. Kinda disappointing.
To be honest, I would've preferred numerous other games to this, but ZIpper working on two games at once is pretty unexpected, and I wouldn't be surprised to still see one of the others Twisted Metal, Killzone) announced pretty soon.

So far, it looks like Sony has this, the Last Guardian, and Gran Turismo 5 for the last half of the year. Not a bad line up.

If they include every Socom 1/2 map and make them 16 player only, I will buy this day one at any price.  Oh, who am I kidding.  Just give me 16 player Foxhunt and I'll buy it.

Pretty worried about it being 32 players.  That was what ruined Socom 3 (well the vehicles also played a big part).  Not sure about destructible environments either.  Socom was at its best when nobody used grenade launchers/RPG's, and grenade spam was generally only there to deter a rush.  I guess I'll just have to wait until we get more information.
