Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft and Nintendo Announce Wii60 Bundle

REDMOND, Wash. and TOKYO — April 1, 2007 — Microsoft Corporation and Nintendo Co. Ltd. today made a historical announcement that will reshape the entertainment industry with the launch of the Wii60 Bundle, which comes with an Xbox 360 video and entertainment game system and a Nintendo Wii video game system, a 20GB hard drive, a wireless Xbox 360 controller, an Xbox Live headset, one wireless Wii Remote controller, one Nunchuk controller and a copy of Wii Sports and The Burger King games plus one month of Xbox Live Gold. Additionally, the companies announced that the Wii remote and Nunchuk controllers will work on Xbox 360 and they are backward compatible with both Xbox and Xbox 360 games. "Wii failed to reach the masses as no hardcore gamers will buy the same console his young sister and grandparents chose," says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "But with the Wii60 Bundle we are finally getting that hardcore crowd!" "The Nintendo Wii was about to surpass the Xbox 360 installed base, so we needed to do something to avoid falling into a second place" says Peter Moore, Corporate Vice President of the Interactive Entertainment Business and Devices Division of Microsoft Corp. "Now, with the Wii60 Bundle, neither Nintendo nor Microsoft can lose the next generation console war!" The Wii60 Bundle will be sold at an affordable MSRP of just $449.99 and it will be available on November 21, 2007. http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13149/Microsoft-and-Nintendo-Announce-Wii60-Bundle/

Sony Announces PlayStation 3 Global Recall TOKYO — April 1, 2007 — Sony Corp. announced today a global recall of the PlayStation 3 video game and entertainment system after accepting customers’ complaints that the system could not perform all the features as advertised by the company. "Yes, we promoted the PlayStation 3 as a powerful supercomputer that could even work as a grill machine, yet it failed to perform that function," said Jack Tretton, president and CEO, SCEA. "The fact that the PlayStation 3 wasn’t able to cook sausages and hamburgers as advertised opened the possibility for customers to fill a lawsuit against us, so we have decided to recall all existing PlayStation 3 systems." Microsoft Announces HOMEless REDMOND, Wash. — April 1, 2007 — Microsoft announced today the unveiling of a first-of-its-kind 2D offline user community service for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. The service, known as “HOMEless,” will enable Xbox Live Gold members to create their own 8-bit avatar and explore a virtual community of Xbox Live Silver users. HOMEless is a laggy online 2D community available in Xbox Live. It allows Xbox Live Gold members to get into Xbox Live Silver users’ systems and take full control of their gaming experience. With an 8-bit avatar uniquely customized according to each user’s preference, Gold members can pause Silver users’ games, reset their Xbox 360s or trash talk through both speakers and Xbox 360 Live headsets with no option for the hacked Xbox Live user to mute the Xbox Live Gold member. http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13152/Microsoft-Announces-HOMEless/

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"

haha, both mock articles very funny. although isnt it a little contradicting to say no hardcore gamer will buy a wii if there aunt and sister does, then talk about how its going to surpass the 360? in my EGM magazine they showed a picture of a PS3 modified to be a grill. someone bought a ps3 then worked on it to be an actuall working grill. maybe he was pissed when he found out that the 2 reasons he bought his PS3 were wasted. "WHAT!? I bought this junk for blu-ray and a grill, and now it turns out blu-ray DVDs may never make it and if they do itll only be after there are 20 dollar blu-ray playes at walmart, and now i find out the grill feature was taken out?! this is serious BS!!!

Nah, it's more of a joke, because of the shape, they basically put a george foreman grill in the PS3.

yea, i know, i was just taking a bit of a cheap shot. it does say in the mag that he did it because people made jokes about how the PS3 looks similar to a george foreman grill. kind of sad to think about, not only a wasted PS3 but just the fact that some guy decided to do that. it makes me feel better about my life, or lack there of. i dont have a ps3 nor do i want one, but if i did own one, i would not turn it into a grill, a tool chest maybe, because its big with a hard outter shell.

waiiiit a minute...This isn't real!!

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
