Forums - Gaming Discussion - How much do trophies and achievements matter to you?

I get no reward from obtaining Trophies so what's the point?

Uncharted has rewards in the game that existed before that unlock or enable you to unlock certain things, these will encourage me to play the game but really if the game cannot entice me back by itself then it really doesn't deserve me to come back to it for meaningless trophies.

Hmm, pie.

I also thought they were useless, that they weren't necessary because we have been playing for years without the need of things as such. However, I just can't get enough of them lately. XD

I have a lot of new games that I still haven't played. I like to buy the games I see I like and have them there for the moment I feel like playing them. With so many games I need something that can tell me that I already did what I needed to do in order to finish a game and pass to play another one. To me, eaning a Platinum is equal to finally nailing a game in this generation. I like to unlock and finish everythin in a game but, with all the games I have and need to play, I feel like I need something to let me know when to stop playing a game and trophies serve this purpose.

I always thought that we needed some way to brag against other people how we defeated a Weapon in a FF, guess Achivements and Trophies can help us out in that. lolz Hope the 13th has at least one.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

i treat my trophies like real trophies and my achievements as my achievements in life.

They're okay but they don't matter to me in general. Many are crap, or simply require stupid levels of devotion to the game to get them. Bioshock 2 seems to have awful ones, for example, clearly designed to try and push you to play the MP with pretty lame SP rewards.

Anyway, I could like without them easily.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

i like them. it's like a game in the game... they are fun

I don’t care about them at all...

they kind of do but not really.

I don't even care about them.

I think I would care about them if I didn't have a huge pile of games I haven't played yet. I can see how they would've been great 10 years ago when I played every game to perfection just because I didn't have any more games to play.

It's also a way of getting more value for your hardearned money.

The inclusion of trophies does not influence my decision to buy a game, and I certainly don't brag about which trophies I've obtained (not that I have a great deal to brag about). However, I do think it's fun to pursue some of the trophies, especially the trophies that take you off the beaten path. I also think it's funny that you can generally tell how much of a life people have by how many PS3 plats they've obtained. It's crazy how much time people devote to such things.
