If it resets to 12/31/1999 does that mean it won't effect us who have our date formats as DD/MM/YYYY? I haven't had my Phat on since yesterday so wondering whether to switch mine on today or wait a while and see what the solution is.

Negative. It has already reached Aus, in fact we were on one of the first ones hit, thanks to the time line. Hence Kotaku is where i first learned of it. Kinda happy my ps3 isnt on :)

Oh well then, we woulda been the first first to get it since we are even closer to the date line. I just hope if I leave off turning on the PS3 for another day all will be fine and the PS3 won't through a hissy when it figures out it's 2/3/2010 (only 2 hrs away). Dang and I was planning to finally start playing Uncharted 2 tonight. Oh well, what's one more day?

2 hours away? im in victoria and it is 8:13... are you in NZ?

Don't knwo if it's been asked but it might affect things, might not. My PS3 is UK so the date is not 03/01/2010 it's 01/03/2010. Does it still matter?

Nevermind jsut read someone is Aus' reply. So how will they fix it exactly if you can't connect to the Network to receive an update? Unless it does not affect general internet use like BBC iPlayer or the internet.

And it's it's jsut a date change why can we not just set the date again?

I know this has all probably been answered but still.

Hmm, pie.

Worst case, those with no internet connection, will have to create a new user, I guess.  Although doesn't this only affect those AFTER the first time they try and sign online, in which case those with no internet would not be affected.

It doesn't have anything to do with the user though does it? It's the clock, meaning every user would be affected

I guess tomorrow will answer these questions does the clock go to 1/3/2010 or 1/1/2000, first one would mean you're just one day behind the second would mean the problem would be a lot more serious for those without internet

Turns out one of my friends has this problem hopefully it's fixed soon

Whether it has anything to do with the user or not I do not know.  But creating a new account fixes the problem.

TIME PARADOX.

But thank god my PS3 has been off for more than 14 hours now.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Actually yeah I can see the logic, the new account would be made at 31/12/1999 from the PS3's point of view while the other account according to the PS3 doesn't exist yet

It has happened to me :O, my Uncharted 2 trophies are gone and cant connect to the internet

Does this effect all phats? Or are some exempt from the problem?

Firmware updates only require that you be connected to the internet. Not that you be connected directly to the Network. Hell, when you go to download a new firmware update, it logs you out anyway.

Similarly, anything you download from the store continues to download even when logged off.
