Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What's up with Blaster Master Overdrive's reviews?

that was a rhetorical question smoked lol

So is the consensus that Overdrive is good? I've been holding out on getting it until I heard the thoughts of people that actually liked the first one.

I had my say in the Overdrive thread: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=100357

Gave it a 8/10. Reviewers are whiny bastards that want their hands held, as are a lot of gamrs in general. Same thing happened to Mega Man 9. I went to Gonintendo and saw screenshots of Mega Man 10, and wone whiny bastard screamed that "Capcom didn't learn their leson from 9" becausethe area in CHALLENGE MODE was layered in spikes. Yes, Capcom didn't learn how to make Mega Man for pussies. Take your easy mode and STFU.

They would have scored it higher if you give them 2 more buttons.
1 to refill full health.
1 to autokill everything on screen.

I'm surprised that critics didn't like it. Mega Man 9 seemed to do fine and it was full of retro oddities. Then again, it's a recognizable brand I so guess people would ACTUALLY try to beat it so they wouldn't lose any credibility

Funny how reviewers these days down play games simply because it isn't pretty, filled with hype, or is too difficult. The definition of hardcore seems to be pretty warped if these kinds of gamers refuse to play a game that is simply different

If you look at some Wii games metascore vs. user score and then do the same exercise with PS3 games, you will definitely discover something really interesting...

Whoa!

Reviewers put GTA4 on the PS3 at 98, while users put it at 74?  That makes perfect sense though, since the game took away everybody's favorite features so they could up the graphics, realism, and physics in a franchise that is known for horrible graphics, no realism, and horrible physics.

Reviewers put LittleBigPlanet at 95 while users put it at 64 though?  That's very interesting.  I thought everybody loved that game.

Then I got sidetracked and looked at the Peggle reviews and had to start a new thread.

I think you're right about GTA4, but since LBP is a Sony standard-bearer, it probably got pushed down by fanboys. You'll find that happens to exclusives on HD consoles.

Yeah, Ninja Geiden, Devil May Cry, and even some bullet hell games, are praised for being difficult, but the games meet the other standards, so this difficulty thing is just an excuse to bash on a game type they don't like.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Todays so called hardcore games are much much easier then the ones during the NES/SNES era.

Funny isn't it

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
