Forums - Gaming Discussion - Valve: 'We messed up on PS3'

LOL at some of the responses in this thread. Gabe Newell probably doesn't give a f*ck about the PS3 and the only reason a writer at Valve even had this response was to shut people up. You want to look at companies that messed up on the PS3 look at Free Radical which no longer even exists after their PS3 exclusive Haze or all the other developers that took at bath on the PS3.

Also, do you know how unprofessional it would sound if they did this just to shut people up? If that was their intention, they would've left it off from when Gabe Newell said sorry to PS3 owners. Why continue to talk about the subject?

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Don't feel so bad. Sony messed up on the PS3, too.

This takes on a whole new meaning today.

They said the same thing about about a 1 year and change ago...I doubt we will see muh movement as they have a REALLY nice thing going as one of the strongest indepedents left, with the ability to distribute and develop.

You are blaming hardware for badly thought out software? I think all machines have their fair share of bad games. For you that was a bloody weak comment.

*so you are quessing?

**Shut who up? who have been saying anything about Valave and the PS3? no one, we all know they dont want to develope for the platform becouse they have made it plain on many occasions.

Well they were asked about it in the interview this thread is based on and basically said they might develop for it in the future.  They give the same kind of response when asked about developing for the Wii as well.

Also for those saying Valve is eating crow as if them talking about PS3 development is something new, they've been doing that for years.  Like in this interview:

Lombardi Says Valve Reevaluating PS3, Wii Development

Valve marketing director believes they "have to take [these platforms] seriously."

By Kyle Stallock, 10/07/2008

"Speaking to CVG (via Kotaku), Valve's Doug Lombardi noted that the recent success of the PlayStation 3 has caused the developer to "reevaluate that for what it is." He continued "So whether or not you like developing for that platform, if they've got millions of people connected to that platform and buying their games you have to take it seriously."

His comments are sure to put a smile on anyone's face who primarily plays games on the PS3 and has been following the rollercoaster news ride about how Left 4 Dead will not appear on Sony's console."

why is this news? they stated this like a year ago...

This is the 4th time they've apologized for the Orange Box...a game they didn't even code and just outsourced to EA, and still they are getting shitted on by PS3 fanboys -_-. Orange box was 2 years ago...Valve apologized already let it go, no need to hold a grudge for 2 years you'll just develop an ulcer.

They may have apologized a bunch for the Orange Box....but they also called the PS3 pretty much worthless several more times. And I mean...something like Uncharted 2 only cost $20M so the "too many resources to develop on PS3" excuse is a farce. They have NO reason to not make a PS3 game....and they don't do it.

When it first came out.... I still think the PS3 failed at launch.

While I'd prefer they decline to comment if they're doing this to shut people up, I guess we have to wait and see what the future holds.

I personally, am fine with it either way, since I've a PC and an Xbox 360 to play their games on.

This is simply good news for PS3 owners and good news for Valve. Pretty much end of story.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

On a side note, Newell's parents admitted they messed up on Gabe's genes in a big way. "D'oh! I blame Duff"! added Mr.Newell Sr.
"I shouldn't have eaten so much fried walrus when pregnant" confessed Mrs. Newell.

Well its Valve's decision, and Sony certainly deserves this all along.
Sony's PS3 will have good times ahead.
