Thinkpads are serious business.....
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
Oh yeah, Lenovo is also an excellent brand for laptops.
Pretty much the standard for business laptops.
But not gaming laptops.
KingFate said: Iirc Asus topped Apple in reliability recently. http://www.pcworld.com/article/162091/asus_takes_top_spot_in_reliability_report.html http://computers.toptenreviews.com/laptops/asus-beats-apple-in-reliability-rankings-yet-again-.html who knew that a google search could work so well ;) |
It's probably neck and neck although this doesn't surprise me. Asus really tries hard to cater to its niche of consumers with up to the minute specs on their laptops, good value/performance and solid customer support. They really seem to know what their customers want.
I've been pretty satisfied with their motherboards in the past (although I just switched to a Gigabyte since Asus currently doesn't have a comparable Sata 3.0/USB 3.0 board in the same range) and would have no objections to buying an Asus laptop if I was in the market for either a gaming or content production laptop.
in order of worst to best
E-Machines
Compaq
Dell (by extension Alienware, since they are owned by the same people)
Gateway
HP
Sony Vaio
Apple
ASUS
Best: Yourself
Next: I'd say Lenovo/Asus
Worst....Apple
Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...
