Isn't it obvious that Microsoft paid Ubisoft to keep it as a timed-console exclusive just like how they've done in the past? And besides all the previous Splinter Cell games have been release on PS2, PSP, and PS3 before, so i doubt that the game would stay only for PC and Xbox 360.

That's a rather large difference in sales. Maybe Ubisoft recognized sales potential as well.
Hell, look at Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six Vegas. Sales are up to 4:1 status for 360 to PS3, and even in the later stages 2.0+ to 1.

If you look at Splinter Cell sales differences between the 2 platforms, it's not really worth it, IMHO.
