LOL at Tretton!
This gen started in 2005, we're in 2010.

So 5 years = 25% (according to Mr. Sony)
This gen would last 20 years total???? LOL

Funnt guy...
I want NEXT GENERATION NOW. Not in 15 years.

he was talking about the PS3 being 3 years old in the market that's 30%

the xbox would be 40%

Ok, so Sony doesn't even know when this generation started? Weird...
That's what I understand when they say: "we are in the first 25% to 30% of this generation"

I'm gaming into this gen since 2005.

Anyway, I'm ready for Next-Gen.
I want Microsoft to release their next console ASAP.

Make it 449$, every adult gamer who got a career like me (read: who doesn't mind spending cash in the medium he loves) will buy it. Imagine a minimum of 1080p, 4xAA, 60fps for EVERY GAME!!!
Xbox360 and Playstation3 would look obsolete.

Why I only mention Microsoft? Because Sony cannot afford to ditch PS3 and start again with PS4 at the moment. Microsoft however is in the right spot, even if the Xbox360 has the same power as the PS3, it is lacking in the "Game Disc Data Storage" area.
Microsoft could start next-gen soon. It would blow minds!!!

Its called PC gaming

Perhaps PC rather than Console gaming might suit you more.. upgrade if and when you want to!?

Some (most?) are happy with current-gen and don't want or need to spend hundreds on new hardware and launch games.

Not interested in PC gaming.

Sad but true.

I fund and support the living room war to fuel innovation.
One day closer to virtual reality.

That's why I always buy the most powerful consoles.

Why so keen for next-gen? are your gaming needs so unfulfilled that you seek fresh novelty? It really comes across that way, to be honest.

Yes.
5 years with the same tech is long enough.

In 1990, after playing 5 years with my NES, I wanted Super Nintendo to release ASAP. Had to wait until 1991.

After playing 4 years with my Super Nintendo, I couldn't wait anymore for next-gen (In 1995, got the first next-gen system available: the Sega Saturn (the Panasonic 3DO wasn't really a console, more like a very high-priced prototype)) .

After playing 4 years into this gen (Saturn+Nintendo64), I WANTED SO MUCH TO GRASP THE NEXT-GEN TECHNOLOGY delivered by the awesome Dreamcast. (bought it in 1999) + Xbox in 2001.

After playing 6 long years with my (Xbox/Dreamcast), I bought the Microsoft Xbox 360 in 2005.

See the trend?
New technology never come too soon.

single core

single core

single core...those were all the same single core software development

were now into multi-core , I say please give these developer's a chance, unless you want them to not be the best Multi-core developer as they can be.

there is still more room to grow,

"Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast."

you make them out before you start something.

when they say 10 year's they mean it .

3 year's out of 10 = 30%

Well the PS3's closer to 3.5 years old. While that might be what they're implying it's just another "just give it more time" excuse and it's getting old.

After all, if the PS3 is going to last 10 years like the PSone & PS2, should we expect a PS4 by year 5 or 6?

What a cliché

Jack Tretton is the President and CEO of SCEA.

Hardly just a "random employee"...

Maybe a year ago, but Sony are on the up now (just). The focus on profitability is slowly starting to show results.

Oh I see... this isn't about 1080p 4xAA tech, or enjoying fresh gaming experiences, this is Console Warz!!1!

My mistake.

That's also why you don't buy ps3 games, like UNCHARTED or LITTLE BIG PLANET, because you have so much hatred towards the ps3..

so its your fault that your gaming needs arent met, you limit yourself thanks to your bias.
