is selling a game with 10,000 copies in a week is it good or bad???

Around the Network

Could you be more vague please?

That depends on the game. How much did the game cost would be a huge factor.

What country? What platform? What production budget? Obviously, a game like Gears of War or Mario Galaxy selling 10k copies in NA would be very very bad.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Well, 6-10K is basically better than any game could possibly hope for. Absolutely, earth-shatteringly huge. That is, for the 40th week of Hamsterz in Denmark.

Or, 6-10K is absolutely pathetic; basically the biggest flop in gaming history. For the 1st week of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the US.

However, if you really want to know how good certain sales levels are compared to nothing, then I'd say your answer is either a light shade of brown, the number 77 or false.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

i understand your perspective of Super Smash Bros...but im talking about any game in general...like Gears of War or Vampire Rain or Mobile Suit Gundam Crossfire...like those quiet games....hold i think i got it...if its an anticipated game then its recommended for the game to sell like crazy right?? but what is the recommened sale number....when is the stopping level considered a failure....100,000?? 10,000?? 5,000??

I think I get what your asking...

Are you meaning, when the sales drop below a certain number to be considered not selling well anymore???

Well I think anything above 4K per week is worth recording still.

Anything lower then that and it's probably not really worth it that much.

It's me...  no really, it IS me!!!
