Absolutely not.

They want us to pay for their mistakes.

Why do they keep pulling used game DLC tricks if they are so confident in the quality of their game?

Stop making movie games and offer some replayability and maybe people won't 'rent' your game.

I am sorry but statements like this are utter nonsense.   No matter how good or bad or replayable a game is you'll find penty of copies on sale second hand.   Quality of product has little to do with it.

Yeah every game has a preowned version, I'm not saying they don't. The better games keep their value closer to RRP and there are less of them though.

I doubt Nintendo or Infinity Ward feel the need to pull DLC tricks.

Should buyers of pre-owned cars be punished? Pre-owned houses?

And cars are comparable to video games because...?

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Each pre-owned game sold means that the game itself sucks.

If the game is really good then people would never sell them because it's a classic and a treasure for them.

Developers and publishers should release better games.

So how do you explain you see games like Zelda, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Halo, The Sims, at this second hand shops?

I perfectly understand your point, I would never sell my own games, the ones I paid for and love to have as a collection and treasure.

But for someone else, games are just entertainment while it lasts, then they sell it.

I have a friend that went through more than 50 Xbox360 games and sold almost them all... He loves to game, not to have the games.

Is that you Stalin? In a free market society, no one is going to punish you for purchasing a product. No ppl should not be punished.

Well, no, because Infinity Ward is too busy planning their p2p (pay to play) Call of Duty.

Mass Effect 2's DLC is fine. I just sincerely hope that retailers let their customers know that the may need to do an extra purchase for some games.

As to the original topic, yes/no. I think that used games shouldn't be able to be sold until 1 or 2 years until after release. And maybe also a reduced price on new games. Neither will happen though. So, I think there need to be changes, but actually 'punish' the consumer? That's ridiculous, no way.

Not in a capitalist society they shouldn't, part of selling something in such a society is the knowledge that it can be resold.

being able to resell something isn't what defines capitalism, not to mention it in no way reveals an inherent right to use the second hand product beyond the establish rights of the creator.  forcing second hand buyers to reregister the game to be able to use it is in fact indicative of a capitalistic society, not the other way around.

an din no way does that punish anyone.  as long as people know that prior to buyingthe game, they can make their own decision on whether they want to buy it or not.  see, it's a choice, and when you choose to do something, just because you'd prefer something else doesn't mean you are being punished.
