Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Developer: DVD is a problem, Blu Ray is better

No DVDs are not a big problem, blu-ray has more space so it is more convenient, but that is pretty much it. No one had any problems with 4 CD games that were released on the PS. Developer can use multiple DVD and/or include codes to DL items.

Star Ocean was released at a later date on the PS, it was required for them to include additional content for it to be released on the PS3. Uncharted and MGS is possible on the 360, if the developers are willing to do it.

As for blu-ray being the future, that is questionable. More like it is the present, but the next format is already on the horizon and it will very likely be feasible before the next gen is released.

I'm curious why almost always are PS3 fans the ones complaining about DVD space, when 360 users have rarely have problems with it. You are not going to "suffer" those problems, so why you complain about it?

No more of these threads would be better. This is starting to feel older than disk swapping.

I install games to my hard drive, never a problem for me.

I'd rather have cheap to exchange DVD drive in my console in case of failure than paying ~ 200E for the original BD drive in PS3.

Yeah, Dvds are starting to annoy me. Last week I was playing Lost Odyssey. Leaning back in my chair relaxing and all. Then out of nowhere it wanted me to change discs! So I had to lean up and switch the discs! D:

I don't know if I will be able to do that again

for suck sake do we really need another one of these? the other one is not even over yet!

Cool thread bro.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

make 2 DVDs like Mass Effect 2 --> problem solved.

I really think this generation is in between DVD and BluRay. I mean there are tons of games that require a install on the PS3, because of BluRay. Look at Bioshock 2. 4-5 GB install, because BluRay is too slow.

So it is not like BluRay, the way it is integrated in the PS3 now, is the best thing ever. Both formats have their pros and cons this gen.

Let's see what the future will bring up.

that's not it at all, it's how each developer design's their game, not to mention look at when Bioshoc was made the developer's designed it for the PC and xbox360 not designed for the PS3, one only has to look at uncharted to see blu-ray's speed is not the case at all.
