Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are save games so big on the PS3?

I'm still complaining about the two versions of the 360. One without a hard drive means developers often cannot develop their games to heavily utilize a hard drive. I highly doubt PS2/3 fans were dissing the "multimedia machine" idea considering the DVD functionality was a huge selling point for the PS2, and we've known Sony was including a blu-ray drive in the PS3 for close to 3 years now.

And why is it a bad thing to use a hard drive to reduce load times? Sure it takes up 2gb of space on the hard drive, but do you really need to have 10+ games with reduced load times? It's not like the game is unplayable without the hard drive dump.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Around the Network

right, jman8, and with the 60GB (really 55GB), that's sure a lot of games you can install elements for. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is going to offer a full install. I look forward to that. You can always uninstall a game and install it later, btw, if you use all 10 game installs or however many you have. Or, upgrade your HD using any existing SATA drive. Nice, huh?

How much would it cost to upgrade the HD?
