The Wii's current worldwide sales is at 67.21 million copies. At this point its selling somewhere between 250-300k first week worldwide. Those worldwide sales could change at any time this year due to huge title releases,big titles being bundled with the console or the holiday season.

The Wii launched in 2006 and my guess is it could be discontinued by 2012 or 2013 (due to the fact that the average video game generation last 5-6 years)

The Playstation 2 has been on the market since 2000 and it will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of its release in Japan next month.

The current worldwide sales of the PS2 should be around 150 million copies and by the time its discontinued,(which I predicted early 2011), I predict the sales to be at 160 million copies worldwide.

The Wii will probably sell another 20 million copies in the next 2 to 3 years.

The sales of the Wii will be around 90 million copies and by then Nintendo will probably make the decision to discontinue the console.

So by 2011, The PS2 WW sales will be around 160 million copies

and

by 2012 or 2013, The Wii's WW sales will be at 90 or 100 million copies by the time its discontinued

The way I see it, it will be impossible for the Wii to outsell the PS2 in WW sales.

which means the PS2 will remain the best selling console of all time.

no, why the hell would it be discontinued right when the next gen starts? This gen started in 2005 and PS2 is still selling decently 5 years after. The NES and SNES sold quite well after the release of the next gen, that's because they were market leaders like the PS2. The PS2 is on its last legs right now and Sony is doing everything they can to kill it off, you should probably look at january NPD.

Just for the record the wii is outselling PS2 by at least 7 million by any fair comparison. The gap is widening not shrinking BTW.

On Topic I agree just based on the fact a Wii 2 should be coming in the next few years, the PS2 is still selling a respectable amount each week, and I don't think the Wii will have the longevity the PS2 has/had.

Considering PS2 sold more than any handheld i don't see how that's true.
