Forums - Nintendo Discussion - LoZ:Twilight Princess is like a good wine

It just gets better and better with each playthrough.  I'm half way through it on my third run and I've never enjoyed it so much.  Even though I know what's going to happen and how to solve the puzzles, it all seems so fresh.  I really am appreciating all the details, the scale of the world, the art design.  This game is a masterpiece like no other.  Gameplay, the music, the characters, the epic moments, the story.  It's all there, the total package.

I remember being somewhat underwhelmed when this game came out, but now, on my third time playing, I realize what an amazing game this is, and just how full of life hyrule is.  Only a zelda game could be cappable of something as amazing as this.  Does anybody feel the same way?  Or has this ever happened to anybody else?

It's quite a coincidence that you created this thread a day after I started my third run of the game. People can call it an "Ocarina of Time rip-off", but is that really a bad thing? NO! That's a freaking great thing! OoT was a masterpiece! I've completed it countless times and the fact that TP felt like a modern version of OoT, just made it better for me. (I'm a nostalgic old sucker, I know...  )

its good, 3rd best 3D console Zelda after Majora and Wind Waker

In my opinion, Twilight Princess is a little less replayable compared to Wind Waker due to lack of any major side-activity. In WW, that was the trophy-hunting (photos and Nintendo Gallery). I did not find anything so enjoyable in TP. But other than that, it really is a masterpiece.

Me too!

The first time I beat it, it was decent with a few disappointments. At my third playthrough, I got to appreciate the game more. And starting from my fourth, I've been enjoying the game ever since. So far it's both my longest and most played Wii game (at 333 hrs.)

For me, it's about my perspective. I think the game's style changed from Majora's Mask, where it focuses more on story and puzzles to enter a dungeon, to a basic Zelda, where it's more on dungeons and less story, around halfway in the game. It was after the fourth dungeon when I felt the disappointed, because I didn't know what to expect and the plot twists backfired (like Zant's case).
Though Ganondorf was not part of my disappointment.

you mean how it's exactly like ocarina but 7 years later?

Hrm... I really need to go back and play Twilight Princess again...

I mean, I sped through that game like a man possessed when it first released. Can you really blame me? It's a new Zelda for crying out loud!

But I never really took the time to go and just appreciate the game. Khuutra made a thread a while back about this very same topic, and now the topic pops up again. It's really making me want to go and just play this great game again (Hey, it's been since early 2007 since I last played it.) We'll see what happens.
