Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 360 will maintain its lead over the PS3 in 2010.

Are you talking north america or worldwide?

I am talking worldwide sales. The 360 will maintain most of its worldwide sales gap over the PS3. American sales and Others sales will pick up and cancel out the PS3 weekly wins over the 360 in Japan region. Overall the 360 will win weekly sales over the PS3 in the late stages of 2010. Sales momentum will switch from PS3 to the 360 again.

PS3 gains in first 8 months of 2010 over the 360 will be cancelled out by the 360 gaining ground over the PS3 in the last 4 months of 2010. 2008 all over again. Reversal of 2009.

yeah maybe, but the reason for this is slashing of price or better quality software...?

cause i think if they dont slash their prices they wont.

Here.

take some VG$ :P

LOL, OP: I believe in your words, but the gap will reduce a little but not enough to PS3 surpass it.

Maybe 2011...

The lead will never disappear. MS won't allow it, they taken their promise seriously and seems to always be one step ahead of Sony in every department. The 360 is about to get its second wave of big games after 2007. Plus Natal and the fact that MS can cut the price if they want means that this lead will be intact until 2012. Just imagine NPD sales for the 360 during the release of Halo Reach and Natal.

Should be an interesting year no matter how it turns out :) MS is ramping up for the second part of the year. I wonder how (and when) Sony is going to defend its ground during those quarters.

if the lead is always less than a year of sales, while the xbox had a year advantage and always cheaper,i dont consider it an accomplishment.

imo

@ apollon: That's true for a specific viewpoint, but it will most definitely be countered with "it outsold it, doesn't matter what the time frame is" and "The PS3 was supposed to blow everything out of the water, the fact that it's trailing, says it all", so you might not want to go in that direction.

I think it'll be a tougher year for the PS3 in contrast to last year, but I wouldn't say that the 360 has the upper hand completely for the last part of '10.; at least not yet. I'm pretty sure Sony has a lot of games backed up to announce during e3 or some other event(s). I also think this is very much dependent on how well the motion controllers catch on with the people, which, in my opinion, can pretty much go either way.

Also, Gran Turismo 5 comes out during the fall; no way will PS3 sales in Europe fall below 360 sales during the latter half of this year.

The mid to end of this year holds major promise for X360, i can't wait for the release of Natal.

360 lead over PS3 will fall to 4.5 million this year, but rise again to 6 million by the end of the year.

PS3 will not be any closer to the 360 by the end of the year. It will be like Ground hog day. De ja vu'.

PS3 is not zooming pass the 360 or crushing it in weekly sales on a regular basis. The boost from the PS3 Slim launch was just a rally due to consumers waiting for a cheaper price point of $299.

Three more big games left for the PS3: Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3 and Gran Turismo 5. 360 has more games up its sleeve for second half of 2010: Halo: Reach, Fable 3, Alan Wake and possibly Gears of War 3. Price cuts in 2010, it has been two years since the last 360 price cuts. Natal launch in second half 2010.

Sony may have to delay Gran Turismo 5 launch until the second half of 2010 and reveal the second half games very soon. PS3 not expected to cut prices on SKUs but the 120GB could be replaced with 250GB and have the $299 price tag. Sounds familiar, Microsoft dropped the Pro 60GB and replaced it with the Elite with the $299 price tag in 2009.

It will be interesting to see how the sales battle between the 360 and PS3 unfolds in the second half of 2010.  Second half of 2009 turned around in a blink of an eye all due to the PS3 Slim launch. 360 is in the battle to win and it will not lay down and die.

you seem to have left out agent and last guardian.
