360/PC combined? Yes it did.

360 alone?  If you believe NPD, probably not.

That means Madworld outsold Bayonetta PS3 it's first NPD btw, even with 1 week less of sales.

AAAUGH

I wish these guys would make a game that could sell. I'm half afraid that publishers will look at NPD numbers and go "Nope, not touching this"

Well, at least retailers bought it up. I mean, those 1.1 million copies will have to go one way or another.

I just wonder how they convinced retailers to stock that much. Crazy.

I'm surprised MadWorld outsold Bayonetta PS3 and got close-ish to the 360 version.

Media hype?

I mean reveiws were pretty much saying "You know those popular games in the genre?  This game makes them look like idiots.

I mean, Bayonetta pretty much shows how little even the "hardcore" put in reviews.

i'm not, there was a lack of core games for the wii in 2009, the game was well received and the wii has 2.5x more userbase than the PS3, yet it barely outsold Bayonetta PS3, which was released in January, with actual COMPETITION, with games such as Darksiders, Mass Effect, and others to compete for sales.

MadWorld released around the time KZ2, Halo Wars, and RE5 did. Not seeing your point.

Multi-console owners aside, there is a lot more compeitition for Bayonetta than there was for MadWorld. That shouldn't be a question.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

It's still utterly perplexing.

I mean, Madworld, Okami, Godhand... these games had obvious pointable flaws as to why they wouldn't appear to a wider audience.

Bayonetta.. I can't find that flaw.  I mean... what was it?   It got great reviews, was in a genre plenty of people like AND had all sorts of TV advertising... on good channels and good hours.

While it didn't have any of the flaws of it's predecessors.  I mean what was the feature that turned people off?  Some people half heartidly suggest the female thing... but other games that sell more have female main characters.

It's VERY confusing... unless it was like partisianship from DMC and GOW fans, but that seems really far fetched.

Well then, ill take that as a no..

So why was it adjusted up 100k from 900 to 1m. What report came in that made that adjustment necessary? If only to be adjusted down 100k the week after. Also.. alot of missed marks by vgc on predicted sales this month. 100-150k off here and there. Dont usually follow those predicted NPD numbers, but maybe its always a bit off like that?

NPD had just USA sales at around 572k. Bioware is a Candian company btw. Mass Effect 2 picking up 200k sales between Canda, Mexico, Brazil, and outlets not covered by NPD is pretty reasonable.

That % of outside US sales would go against any other game thats been released. I mean, 220k is aprox 28% of all sales. I dont believe that.

My MadWorld number was off, it was actually 66k 1st NPD.  Still ahead of Bayonetta PS3, but pretty far behind Bayonetta 360.  On the other hand, it had a week less of sales too.  89k was actually GTA DS, I was glancing at the data too quick! :/

Also, TvC at 50k is a pretty good (less than 1 full week) debut for the Vs series.  On GAF they mentioned NPD's ltd for MvC2 PS2 was ~250k and both MvC and MvC2 on Dreamcast were each ~200k.  TvC should easily be able to match those lifetime imo.
