Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii GH3 outselling PS2 GH3?

There were reported shortages rocketpig, so if that's the case we'll see the game sell very good the coming week. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

That might explain why I haven't seen one in a store. :D

I'm actually surprised that GH3 isn't doing better on the Wii. Considering the Wii demographic and the fact that PS3 & 360 owners might be holding out for Rock Band, I thought more Wii owners would jump on GH3 since they don't have another music-related game coming any time soon.

I'd buy it soon if I hadn't heard about the mono-only sound (not a huge deal, as both I and my friends just use the TV stereo speakers, but still), and the supposed lack of quick play multiplayer...only career multiplayer...I'm confused and nobody seems to tell me what the modes really are.

Also, the lack of extra guitars for Wii and PS3 undoubtedly slow down sales...I'm not going to buy GH3 if there aren't extra guitars for sale...maybe eBay can help in that regard, but that's lame.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The PS2 is definitely on its last legs (finally). After this holiday season, it will pretty much be dead.

I think the recent PS3 hardware with no back compat was really kind of a big deal. No one wants to invest in PS2 software at this point in its lifecycle if it won't even play on the PS3. However while Sony was hoping this would motivate people to pickup a PS3, they are picking up Wii/360s instead. Once again Sony bites itself in the ass.

Guilty Gear Accent Core on PS2 > Guilty Gear Waggle Core on Wii.

Not that I even know what Guilty Gear is, but I heard you can use Classic controls with the Wii version...so it really doesn't matter.

erm... If you own the PS2 Guitar Hero 2, what incentive is there to buy Guitar hero 3? Is it just new songs? Or is there something that would really make someone fork out the extra money to buy GH3 on PS2.

I'm thinking the reason why its sales are so low is because GH2 is good enough, and there's no real advantage to GH3.

Have you ever played a music rhythm game? Like GH or DDR? The point of buying the next game is for more songs. We play the heck out of GH2 for a month or so...after a while, you don't feel like playing Free Bird or Thunderhorse...AGAIN. The new games are for new songs.  And for PS2 and 360 owners, they can just buy the game alone, without a controller, since they've already got it.

no i think the ps2 version will have the better legs of 'em all so it should eventually level or pass the Wii version and the 360 version
I don't think the PS2 version will pass the 360 as PS2 is dying.  It is possible for it to pass the Wii but the Wii has the best guitar and the 360 is DLC so they both have something the PS2 version cannot touch.  On the other hand, you cannot yet play 2 player in the same room on the Wii and this is likely hurting it a lot. Overall, I am suprised the Wii is beating the PS2 version, also.
About Lego Starwars, there are a few factors to consider.Wii was 1st and DS was second.  However, the 360 and PS3 had online and better graphics and were budget priced for those systems.  But, the Wii version had the best controls and the 360 already had nearly 1/2 of the game released as an earlier title.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

Did you also notice that the Wii version of LEGO Star Wars outsold all other versions.

I almost picked up Wii Lego SW today. I only rented the previous version and didn't play it that much so the wii version would have been an almost new experience. I've notice that some games get scores lowered by late releases like Lego, and Tomb Raider Anniversary for the Wii. While others are uneffected, like Oblivion for PS3. So Lego gets points deducted for being a rerelease though it is an improvement.
