Forums - Sony Discussion - ps3 controller battery

I was just wondering once the controller's battery dies, will it still work if it's left plugged in w/ a usb or is the only option to go buy a new battery? and where do they sell them?

I was just wondering cuz in the future, if I wanted to pull out the old ps3 and found I was left with a controller that didn't work, that would suck which is why I was thinking about picking up a ps2 controller before they're impossible to find and buying one of those adapters so it works on the ps3.

I think it will still work plugged in and I've been using my sixaxis for 2 years straight and i still have plenty of juice left on it after i charge it.

It doesn't really matter since the batteries are designed to last for years and aren't impossible to replace

uh yeah I've got 2 of the original 6axis controllers and they work fine and I play all the time. if your controller is finally Juiced out"OH wow" but still just pick up a new dualshock. they're only 25 bucks on Ebay brand new

well i'm not worried about them draining anytime soon. and i'd just go buy a new batt. before I'd pick up another controller if I had any problems.. but I'm just saying in the distant future. the controllers and their batteries wont be readily available and I'd want a controller (wired) that will work if the ps3 controller doesn't work when plugged in w/ a usb...

I was just wondering if anyone whose controllers have died have tried this out..

We have no idea, i haven't heard of any case of the Sixaxis or DualShock 3 batteries dying. Until we a report of a working controller with a dead battery no body can answer you.

It does indeed.

It depends.. if the battery is dead as in broken, then you probable won't be able to use it even with a cable. But if the battery is dead as in it will no longer hold a charge, then you will still be able to play with a cable.

Refer to post above, it is much better.
