Finally another 1080p native game to add to my collection. Most people won't even notice the difference though unless they have a big flat screen. I plan on upgrading from my 42" to a 46"-50" this summer so I'll be glad that FFXIII is 1080p then.

You realize that its 1080p CUTSCENES right?  Gameplay wise, its the same.  However, with all the cutscenes in FF now, it might as well be most of the game I suppose.

At least 90 % of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference side by side. Its similar to that you could compare "uncompressed CD audio" to a compressed "MP3, WMA, AAC". The average person doesn't even know or care even if you pointed out the differences.

you can easily tell difference between 720p and 1080p.i game like less than 2-3 feet from my tv and the difference is huge.any gamer who notices the game closely will find it easily.you have to be a core for it.you game constantly, the more you find about the game and the visual.

i just made my mom stand infront of the tv to check this thing out.she was able to notice a difference,i don't think i need anymore proof.

It also depends on the size of your TV, which you did not mention.

If you have a 32" TV and sit a foot from it (like I do at home - use it as a PC monitor as well) you will see a difference.  Now if you took that same TV and sat 10' away from it.  Not so much.

Generally - optimum viewing is 1.5 times the diagonal measurement of your TV, so in my case 48" or 4 feet would be where I "should" sit.

In other words, it only matters to someone with a full HD big screen tv.

Still, good stuff for PS3 owners, and expected, really, it's one of the few ways to take advantage of the BR space.

Usually only matters if:

a)You are sitting less than 1.5 times the diagonal measurement of your TV
b)Your TV is 55 inches or greater

its 40 inches or greater not 55 inches

Here is a good article for you

When I said 55" or greater, I was referring to sitting at the appropriate 1.5 times the diagonal measurement of your TV, so in this case as seen from the graph, look at where a 55" TV is and look up on the graph.  With a 55" TV you "should" sit 82.5" away (or 6.875 feet away) which is fine as your eyes can "get" the 1080p image.

I'm getting the 360 version because I'd be getting it for free :D. My friend that works in a video game store near my house is gonna get it (a little bit early I might add) so when he's done with CD 1, ima borrow it, and keep doing that until we both finish :D. Now I can't really be disappointed in the game if I spend no money on it (well I'm still disappointed from what I've heard but, not as much).

Going to laugh my ass off if there is a part on disc 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 that asks you to insert a previous DVD :)

(And yes I think it will be 9 discs as if Squeenix "filled" the Blu-ray disc and there was "no room" left to put the Japanese dubs on it then it would be sitting at probably 50 GB)

We will see :)

Here I'll save you the effort of even having to think about it, it's three discs, straight from Square Enix.

But you're free to still believe it's coming on 9 discs, LOL. :)

yeah I'm going to take this information from a ps3 fan that is bias.

Found a pretty cool comparision video between the two versions, my apologies if it has been posted before
